How to Save Money at Animal ER Care, LLC

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had to say goodbye to my best friend of 10 years after an exam showed there was little or no hope for recovery. The staff, and notably Dr. Andrews, were compassionate and sensitive, amazingly so. More than I expected. I was heartbroken, and the doctor actually sat with me for a time after my furry friend was gone. Don't hesitate to take your ailing pet here. They're the best!

Had to bring our Poppy dog in for some pretty bad GI issues; she had to be admitted for about 24 hours. The team here is incredible. Front desk staff, techs, and doctors, everyone was so kind and patient. The doctor we saw (Dr. Kociuba) did not rush at all. She took her time, sat on the floor with Poppy, and answered every question we had. Lobby is stocked with snacks, coffee, and other drinks. There is also a basket of clean blankets for your pet! If your fur baby need’s emergency care, bring them here!

Prior to learning of Mountain View Animal ER Care and Hospital, I was hopelessly frustrated by the incompetence and inaccessibility of professional pet health care too often typical of Southern Colorado Veterinary Practitioners. Within 5 minutes of visiting the Animal ER, I was reassured that my pet would receive intelligent as well as compassionate evaluation of his urgent health needs. My dog's pain was quickly relieved, and thereafter well managed while his overall situation was assessed and the relevant surgery scheduled. Without the aid of these professionals, my dog would have suffered needlessly and possibly could have died. I didn't need an incompetently "nice" veterinary doctor to squeeze me for money while my pet remained in so much pain. I needed a thorough diagnostician to rule out possible causes of his presenting issues, and a sound recommendation for how to alleviate my dog's medical illness. My pet and I finally received high caliber professional assistance, plus all the fawning comfort and sincerity inherent to a genuinely capable and caring staff. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. There were at least three nursing staff who were empathetically insightful far beyond others I've encountered, and our surgeon's confidence and crystal clarity was the icing on the cake. To single any one out would needlessly diminish the whole. As a hardened cynic, my lacking faith in humanity was suddenly second guessed. Each person who helped my beloved pet deserve the fattest bonus possible, were only I a rich man. Carefully examined my dog's illness and provided prompt relief and solution.

We lost our Ollie girl yesterday. Nothing the ER could do to save her. What they did do was treat our baby and us with such care, compassion, and empathy that I actually felt comfort during a horrible moment. From the front desk, to the techs, to the doctors themselves. My family thanks you so much. If your fur baby needs emergency care, bring them here.

Beautiful facility and WONDERFUL customer service. I had to wait a long time for my cat to be seen, but that's just like any other pet emergency place. So so grateful for their kindness in helping my sick kitty. I HIGHLY recommend them if you're in a jam with your pet. They even worked very well with my budget. Thank you so so much Animal ER Care.❤️🐈‍⬛🙏 Gabriel and I appreciate you!!
