How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I want to thank dr park and the amazing staff such as Julianna and the rest of the gals (I am so sorry for having missed your names) for taking such good care of my baby cash.. my sweet boy cash was not eating and refusing water after vomiting on Tuesday out of no where... Thursday morning I called to been seen and the ladies encouraged me to come.. I was so scared and anxious because I was afraid that my baby was going to be getting weaker and weaker if I didn’t take him right away.. I had an appointment at 3:30 but the gals told me to come earlier before 1130 which I did.. when I arrived Juliana was so kind and went over cash’s treatment for the day and did not once harass me into paying for services until once he was seen.. she was also kind enough to introduce me to the wellness membership which came in the clutch because it would cover everything my son needed and what it didn’t cover such as the IV, the anti nausea and appetite stimulant at a discount for having the membership.. I went home feeling okay and anxious but grateful he was being taken care of.. I found out my baby had elevated kidneys and positive for FIV… dr park called me and went over next steps with me and was so sweet to help my boy feeling comfortable and at ease.. they sent me home with his meds, prescribing meditated food and encouragement that everything will be okay.. this was on Thursday and today is Sunday.. my baby is getting back into his groove and eating slowly and feeling better.. if it weren’t for their urgency and their kindness I would have been so confused and my child may have passed due to dehydration and the kidneys.. thank you for all you did for me and my cashie… god bless you all.

Very friendly. Explained all service and costs prior to appointment. Able to offer the heartworm medication we usually use. Service was really quick. I barely had time to run over to Peet's to get some coffee.

We got the membership and it gives me peace of mind because it has unlimited vet visits. However, when we go to the visits, I feel that they give recommendations for extra services that are not really needed as much. Also, wait time is usually over one week. When the Banfield closest to we closed down it was a two weeks or more to book an appt @ another place. I got a premium plan so it included spade or neutering and dental cleaning annually. So the dental cleaning alone is well worth the money. Plus you get a chance on heartworm and tick and flea meditation. And also discounts on special RX dog food. Every year the plan will go up, but I will still keep it because of the overall benefits.

Asked them to do an anal gland expression. They said she didn’t need one. I assume because they were busy. The following month she gets an anal gland rupture. Costing 800+ in vet fees (somewhere else). I’d take your business elsewhere.
