How to Save Money at Adobe Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Almaz I am DIAMOND

Every time I have brought any of my 3 pets here I am always glad I did. Everyone is always so helpful and accommodating. They are knowledgeable about Shots & General info. If they’re not sure, they will find out and get back to you right away. I will be sad the last time I visited with my Sassy will be my last since I am relocating out of state. If I could bottle Adobe up and take it with me, I would!

Awesome staff! They were wonderful and very friendly for my new little puppy. I did have to wait a bit for my scheduled appointment, however, I think there was an emergency. I was a little disappointed that the doctor couldn’t clear the hair out of my three month old puppy’s ears to see if she has an ear infection. He told me to go get her groomed first. My daughter had a similar situation with her puppy at a different vet and the vet was able to clear the hair out and determine that she did have an ear infection so that was a bit disappointing since I wasn’t going to get her groomed until she had more vaccinations. Here’s a follow up… the doctor and staff did not have any groomer recommendations. When I called groomers, most did not want to take her without all of her vaccinations. I have an appointment with a Mobile Dog Groomer before she goes in again. However, meanwhile she scratches that ear and cries so I wish the doctor could’ve done some thing.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with my dogs first now last visit!! Thought this would be our new Vet but NO WAY!! Took our 5 yr old dog (new to our family) in for what we thought was an ear infection. Had to pay $85 as a walk in, ok fine, but Dr Aulakh checked my dogs ear where there’s clearly something inside stuck to his ear canal hair and said I need to go to a groomer (to have hair removed) then come back to see what might be bothering him. Wait what?? Isn’t that something you could do? There’s something hard inside and visible without an otoscope!! If it’s simple enough for a pet groomer then why couldn’t you remove it? On top of that you’re charging me? I’m not asking you to groom my dog but shouldn’t you have removed what’s most likely causing pain?? I’m baffled! You shouldn’t refer me to a groomer knowing my dogs ear is hurting him terribly which I stressed over the phone and in office. Was also referred to another specialist for some other issue. So it looks like this Doc is in the business of handing out referrals and charging for them rather than treating pets himself. I spent $135 for the visit, a referral, eye wash and some horribly scented chemical laden ear cleansing solution that smells like perfumed cucumber/mango, gave me a huge headache. That stuff shouldn’t go in a dogs ear canal if you’re at all concerned about ingredients period. I asked if I could please switch it out for something unscented but nope. So that’s more money down the drain. There was no genuine concern for my poor dog so this was a huge waste of my time/money and my dog still needs help. The only positive part of my visit was the rest of the staff. They were all very helpful and kind but overall Dr Aulakh completely neglected to take appropriate action and gave substandard treatment at best. Take my advice and go straight to a specialist as that’s where you’ll be sent anyway. No I would absolutely not recommend this vet!
