How to Save Money at Honor Pet - Pet Euthanasia and Cremation Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We said goodbye to our little Lori on Jan 2nd. Honor Pet made the whole experience more manageable for us. They have clearly put considerable thought into end of life care for pets and have carefully crafted and curated a thoughtful journey for their customers. Doctor Scott was very kind and gentle while we were preparing to say goodbye in the comfort of our own home. We were able to make an appointment with around 14 hours notice and we were relieved he could fit us in. At each stage we were kept updated, from Dr Scott’s arrival, to the scheduled water cremation date through to being able to collect the urn and the memorial items we had chosen. Each little touch Honor Pet provided along the way made us feel supported. One of the main reasons we chose them was due to their focus on sustainability in all areas - from the water cremation process itself but also the sustainable choices of wood for their urns and recycled materials in their packages and other items. We would absolutely recommend them and we’re grateful for the role they played during this very difficult time in our lives. RIP Lori

Dr. Scott was incredibly respectful, kind, and understanding during one of the hardest moments for our family. We never felt rushed and were given the time and space we needed to say goodbye to our dog, Rocco. He carefully explained every step of the process beforehand, which helped put everyone at ease and reassured us that Rocco was comfortable and not in pain. What meant a great deal to us was how thoughtfully everything was handled afterward as well. Rocco was cremated using an eco-friendly process, which aligned with our values, and we appreciated the company’s commitment to being environmentally responsible. A week later, we were notified that Honor Pet planted a tree in Rocco’s memory, which was incredibly meaningful to our family. This experience was handled with so much care and compassion, including for our six-year-old child, who was able to participate and say goodbye in a gentle, supportive environment. Knowing that Rocco was treated with dignity and love throughout brought us comfort. We are very grateful for the care our family received. Thank you Honor Pet!

Saying goodbye to our furry companions is one of the hardest things we do in life. When it became clear it was our cat Chloe’s time, we knew we wanted her to have a peaceful passing at home, surrounded by love and comfort. Dr. Scott Cox was thoughtful, caring, and kind throughout the entire process. He has a gentle demeanor, and it’s clear he has a deep love for animals. He made an incredibly painful moment feel calm, dignified, and filled with compassion. A few days after Chloe passed away, my spouse and I received the most heartwarming handwritten card in the mail from him, which deeply touched us. During a time when it feels like I’ve lost a part of myself, that gesture is so meaningful. Our sweet girl was with us for 17 years, and she was honored beautifully at the end. Thank you, Dr. Cox and Honor Pet, for helping us through this transition.

Thank you to everyone at Honor Pet for your compassion and care from beginning to end. Our fur baby, Pearly, meant everything to us, and it was so important that we honor her with love and dignity in her final moments. Because of your services, we truly feel that we did right by her, and that brings us great comfort during this difficult time. We are deeply grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend Honor Pet to anyone in need of such compassionate support. A special thank you to Roxanne for your kindness and assistance—it meant more to us than you know. With sincere appreciation, Pearly's Mom - Shirleen

I am in absolute awe of how amazing Honor Pets has been. The whole experience has been such a comfort to me. Knowing that my kitty, Amadeus has been so cared for truly makes me happy. I was devastated to lose my cat of 12 years, Amadeus. Being able to sit with him him 1 last time before he went for his water cremation was such a comforting experience. As pet owners, we need that time to process, grieve and let our emotions out. I love Honor Pet and I hope I do not have to come back any time soon but this is the place to go if you want your pet to be honored, loved and truly cared for when they pass on.
