How to Save Money at Ambassador Dog & Cat Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This place wasted my time and completely misled me on pricing. I scheduled an appointment, drove over an hour to get here, and waited more than an hour without a single thing being done. I came in for one simple rabies vaccine for my kitten. That’s it. Before arriving, I was explicitly told the exam would be $25 and that the shot would cost less than the exam. Once I’m already here and stuck waiting, they suddenly tell me the shot is nearly $40 on top of the $25 exam, totaling $62 for a single rabies shot. That is not what I was told, and changing pricing after someone arrives is unacceptable. On top of that, they attempted to take my kitten to the back without me present because the doctor “scheduled something else,” despite the fact that I had an appointment and nothing was communicated beforehand. My appointment was at 2:00 pm it’s now almost 3:30 pm and nothing has been done. All she needed is a single shot. This was disorganized, misleading, and showed zero respect for my time or my pet. If you can’t honor appointments or give accurate pricing upfront, don’t schedule people. I will not be returning and absolutely do not recommend this place.

Staff were friendly. Dr. Kumar checked and diagnosed my fur baby fairly quickly. Before any procedure and medication was administered, the staff showed me, in print, of the cost. I was able to sort which services my fur baby needed and that's affordable to me. It's a bit pricey for my budget, but nothing beats having peace of mind about my fur baby's health. Waiting area was clean, spacious, and welcoming. Consultation room was clean, tidy, and had a friendly atmosphere. The clinic provides TV, in the lobby, while patrons are waiting. Free parking is provided. Entrance is adjacent to the clinic building.

I was nervous about going here because of the bad reviews and people mentioned the cost. I had a great experience. I think the tech was great and personable. The frontstdf were professional. I think the vet was kind of quick in his exam and I spent a lot more time with the tech but my dog is a lot better a day later and the process was entirely reasonable. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the vet was just on and out and I would have liked a little more time.

Even though my sweet girl Taz and I didn’t get the outcome we were hoping for, I will always be grateful to Dr. Wong and the entire staff at Ambassador Dog & Cat Hospital. Dr. Wong was incredibly honest, empathetic, and compassionate every step of the way. She never rushed through our appointments and always took the time to explain everything with clarity and kindness. From follow-up calls to in-person check-ins, she made sure Taz was supported and comfortable and that I had the answers I needed to care for her. Thanks to Dr. Wong’s guidance, I’m now able to focus on making my dog’s final days filled with love, comfort, and peace. She helped me feel prepared for what’s ahead, and that has made all the difference during such an emotional time. The entire staff was warm, professional, and treated Taz with such tenderness. It’s clear they care deeply about the animals and the families who walk through their doors. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for helping me care for my girl with dignity and love.
