How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Limehouse Veterinary Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

If I could give the staff and the doctors different reviews I would. The desk staff were incredibly helpful and respectful. Although they did manage to lose all the paperwork I had emailed them before my visit. It’s probably not their fault - but I arrived 20minutes early to my appointment and wasn’t seen for over an hour. 3 stars. Zero stars for the way that our 17 year old Husky was handled during her first exam. The Doctor (Rainey) and her Tech were extremely rough with our dog, she unnecessarily endured the most stressful and painful examination in her life. They forced our dog to do things that injured her arthritic legs and back and forcefully held her so badly that she has been limping for over a week. They also felt it necessary to hold her mouth closed and put pressure on her trachea so tight that she could not breathe - I had to repeatedly ask them to stop manhandling her and injuring her. Worst Veterinarian experience of my life. It was everything I could do to keep calm and not rage protect my baby. They were also completely dismissive of my repeated requests that they respect my autism and did not seem to have any training with regards to dealing with trained service dogs. One hundred percent do not reccomend. Perhaps the weirdest thing… the “holistic” doctor (Doctor K) would not allow me to book an appointment where I could remain in the room while he examined my dog. Seriously weird. That would be like leaving your toddler in the exam room alone, who does that!?

I have only been coming here for two weeks with my dog Steven. But the kind of care and attention he gets here from the staff and from his vet is beyond anything I used to get from VCA. After just one visit. My vet was able to assess the cause of Steven's issues. Issues I had been dealing with for months from a previous vet who had been seeing him and charging me thousands of dollars for things that weren't actually looked into. My vet has been incredibly responsive to questions via email and given me so many suggestions to products and places to go to benefit my dog. My previous vet was trying to sell me a certain brand of dog food that was manufactured by the same company that owned VCA. I'm just so happy with Limehouse and Dr. Rainy. I hope my review will encourage others to consider bringing their pet here too.

Dr. Rainey and staff are the best. I have a special needs cat who has seen every vet in town, Dr. Rainey has been the only doctor who's treatment plan is actually helping my cat and getting to the root cause of the issue. Amazing doctors and staff, I don't go anywhere else.

I am so grateful for Limehouse and Dr. Ram. They saved my cat's life, and saved me many thousands of dollars! After a few days of lethargy / no appetite and daily vomiting, I called Limehouse on a Sunday a couple hours before closing time, and the receptionist encouraged me to bring my cat in immediately, telling me she would make room for us right away. Unfortunately I couldn't get her in the carrier in time, so I called back and they scheduled me for first thing the next morning. I met with Dr. Ram and after talking with him, he shared that his top concern was a linear foreign object causing a blockage. He was frank that we could do bloodwork and x-rays and that if it's a foreign object, those tests might not show it. He said going straight to an exploratory surgery could be the best option and would save money on testing, but that he understands pet parents don't usually love the idea of jumping into surgery. I did indeed opt to do the tests instead, and after they both looked good, he provided supportive care (fluids and an anti nausea med) and wrote down some notes for bland food and other meds I could give her at home. He also provided a list of 24-hr animal hospital ERs I could take her to for an ultrasound should she start vomiting again--which he recommended I do immediately if that should happen. She improved for a week, and then the symptoms returned. I called the clinic and Dr. Ram called me back right away and encouraged me to get her an ultrasound asap. He also cautioned me that the ER / animal hospitals would charge more than double what he would charge for an exploratory surgey or other treatments, and welcomed me to simply bring the ultrasound results immediately to him. Sure enough, after performing an ultrasound that was still a bit unclear but indicated a possible foreign object, the ER doc provided an estimate of $11k - $15k for surgery/treatment. I was devastated because I absolutely could not afford that. I called Limehouse on a Saturday evening after hours and left a voicemail, and first thing Sunday morning they called me back and told me to bring her in for surgery first thing Monday. I took her in for surgery and after two weeks of a linear foreign object causing damage to her intestines, the prognosis was not great for my sweet kitty. But Dr. Ram and his team gave her a chance and did their best work, and set me up with all the meds and instructions I would need to care for her at home. I have a difficult cat who is hard to medicate, and they even offered to help by medicating her for me if I brought her by the clinic once a day. They were very helpful during her recovery, providing me with gabapentin and xanax to give her to help reduce her anxiety. The whole staff expressed concern for her and asked after her whenever I stopped by to pick up a med or brought her in for a check-up in the days after her surgery. She has made a full recovery so far (almost two weeks out from surgery!) and I am beyond relieved. Dr. Ram saved her life, and the surgery, meds, and check-up visits together totaled under $4k, which is many thousands of dollars below the $11k - $15k the animal hospital quoted me. I am so thankful for this caring and honest clinic and their entire staff!

Our 2 yr old cat had started coughing, breathing hard, doing badly. Regular vet is away so we went elsewhere. They misdiagnosed, we went to yet another place. Misdiagnosed and gave wrong meds. FINALLY we went to Limehouse. Dr. Rainey was amazing, knowledgeable, kind, and wonderful. She was worried about our boy and directed us to a hospital to treat him. She was so incredibly fantastic I can't say enough about her. She is now our new vet and our fur babies will never go elsewhere! LOVE. THIS. PLACE!
