Got turned away earlier today because they were short staffed and were only taking "stat" emergencies, and internal bleeding was apparently not serious. Wound up going to Access instead, who were cheaper, faster, and better care. We were seen there in under 30 minutes, whereas I've never had a pet get seen in under 5 hours at City of Angels. We have used City of Angels for 5 other visits over the last 5 years for our 2 cats and dogs, and they have always felt predatory, but today, having a receptionist diagnose our dog - we didn't get triaged - was the last straw. Go anywhere else, these folks suck.

Extremely rude staff. 7 hour wait. Endless useless tests to show nothing was wrong with my pet who was crying and in pain and couldn’t walk all day. All they wanted to do was give pain medicine (which is extremely dangerous for dogs) and send her on the way. Keeping a dog in a kennel for 6 hours before even being seen is ridiculous, inhuman and cruel. Every-time I asked for updates which was every 2 hours I was told this was a emergency hospital you need to wait. We don’t give people appointment times. I think after 6 hours some sort of update would have been nice. On top of it we were instructed to wait outside in the 45 degrees weather or sit in our car. $1,000 later to be told nothing and they kept pushing pain meds which we refused. Don’t waste your time or put your let through this nightmare go anywhere else. If I could give 0 stars I would. Thank you for stressing my family and dog out and not being able to do your job to see what’s wrong with her.

I had a great experience at City of Angels. I brought in my cat for a urinary blockage, which can be lethal if untreated. They took him in immediately. They gave me a very detailed estimate of the costs. The doctor called me to explain what was going on and how long he might have to stay in the hospital. He ended up staying 3 days, and the doctor called me twice each day with an update. They discharged him with clear instructions, and a few sample cans of the specialized urinary diet. They even ended up refunding me for some of the medicine he didn't end up needing. All in all, a very smooth experience, and glad I found them in this emergency. I'll definitely use them in the future (although hopefully no more emergencies will arise).
