Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

My almost 13 year-old dachshund terrier mix was very thin and not eating or drinking. After a four visit to the ER I needed a follow up veterinarian. All the others that I called that were local to me had waiting lists of 3 to 4 weeks. I called Abbey Vet Hospital And they were able to see me the next day. They also were very reasonable and cost versus the other ones that I had to wait. Dr. Penta is very pleasant and understanding. She did a check of Pepper and renewed my prescriptions for peppers, blood pressure and saline solution. Though I did not have the blood work up and results from the ER visits, the doctor and her staff were able to get that information and print out a copy for me. A week later I called because I was concerned about Pepper‘s weight loss still and left a message. I received a call back and was told that a recheck was free. So I made an appointment for the next day. Though the drive is 45 minutes each way for me I felt it was worth it. The care and the consideration of the veterinary hospital is Warm and personal.

We took our Chihuahua to Abbey. Found out he had double ear infection. The staff and Vet were very kind, professional, and affordable. They even told me I can bring him back in a week or so to do a recheck for free. We did in 10 days since he didn't allow me to administer his antibiotics as directed. Infection wad gone they verified. I surely recommend their office as they are wonderful. Our new Vet. Poncho is pur dog on right. 😉👍🏽

Took my sick kitty here. Never tried them before but they were so nice when we called and they were able to get us in same day, late on a saturday. They did their thing sent us on our way with some drugs for her, price was very reasonable for services we received. After a week she was all better and they didn't even charge us for the re-check the week later. All the people were super cool with us and very gentle to our sick cat the whole time. She's been super happy since they got her all better. They are under new management and would definitely recommend this place.

**Disappointing and Heartbreaking Experience at Abbey Veterinary Clinic** I am deeply disappointed and heartbroken by the care our Chihuahua received at Abbey Veterinary Clinic. Our daughter’s Chihuahua was not eating for three days and started wobbling when he walked. We brought him in, and they decided to run blood tests, eventually diagnosing him with diabetes. They wanted to transfer him to their sister location in Lone Tree Way for overnight monitoring, keeping him on an IV due to dehydration. They assured us that if he ate the next day, he could go home. The following day, we received a call that he was doing fine and ready to be picked up. However, upon picking him up, my husband noticed he still looked unwell and asked if he was really okay to leave. The vet insisted he was fine because he had eaten a little bit. They demonstrated an insulin injection and prescribed several diabetes medications. Once home, our Chihuahua just laid in his bed, not eating or drinking. Within a few hours, his condition worsened rapidly. His breathing slowed, and he seemed lethargic. We called the vet, who casually suggested he might have low blood sugar and recommended giving him sugar water and taking him to an emergency vet if there was no improvement. Despite our efforts, his condition declined, and we rushed him to the emergency vet, where he sadly passed away despite CPR attempts. The emergency vet questioned whether any x-rays were taken, and we confirmed none were. They suspected other underlying issues. We later discovered our Chihuahua had not eaten while in the care of Abbey Veterinary Clinic and were unsure if he was truly taken to the other location, despite being charged over $1000 per night. The vet released him without ensuring he was fully recovered, showing no compassion for our Chihuahua and seemingly more interested in profit. I strongly advise against Abbey Veterinary Clinic. Pets are family members and deserve to be treated with genuine care and concern, which was severely lacking here. Stay clear and find a vet who truly cares about your pets' well-being.
