How to Save Money at Animal House Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Anderson was very attentive and listened to me in person and my husband while he was on speaker over the phone. She is willing to work with us in anyway to make sure our little dog has the best quality of life. Her office is great everything is clean decorated and has wonderful colors and wonderful environment in ambience. They are highly organized. on top of that she has the best prices in the area I highly recommend her and her business to anyone, if you are looking for exceptional veterinary care. Thank you Dr. Anderson and the entire support staff. You guys have probably been the best veterinarian service that I have ever visited. Keep up the good work.

I cannot say enough good things about this vet. On a Sunday, we had an accident at home where my cats tail had been injured. I took him to the emergency vet down the road (GQ Emergency Vet) and after waiting 4 hours, they told me the only solution was to amputate my cats tail- the damage could not be fixed or stitched up. I declined their recommendation and told the emergency vet that I would be taking my cat to his regular vet the next day. I was still charged $700 by the emergency vet for them just examining his tail and providing a bandage that came off as soon as we got home. Animal House was able to get me in on Monday morning first thing to examine the damage that happened to his tail. They were super understanding of my frustration with the emergency vet, and also of my feelings surrounding the fear of my cats tail being amputated. THANK YOU Dr Jeff Anderson and Dr Brazeal for taking a chance on my cat and not resorting to amputation. Dr Brazeal was confident she could stitch the area together and we could monitor it for a few weeks as it healed (with the possibility still being amputation if it didn’t heal properly). It has been 3 weeks and his tail healed completely and I am so grateful for this veterinary office for actually taking care of us instead of resorting to worst case scenario. Thank you thank you thank you, Mr. Kitten is so grateful for this vet office just as much as me (even after having to wear the cone of shame for 3 weeks lol). I will forever come here and will continue to recommend this office to anyone I know needing a vet.

Our fur babies have been going to Animal House for years. We absolutely love Dr Connie Anderson and Dr Jeff. They've always been up front and honest and they truly care about your pets. They know our pets are our family and they treat them the same. I wholeheartedly trust Animal House with our fur babies. If your looking for a vet schedule an appt you won't regret it.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to Animal House. Please keep up the good work you guys do. You've always been compassionate and helpful. And the flowers sent to my house after Bobbie passed were beautiful and honestly helped brighten my day. When we're ready for another furry friend then I'm sure you'll see us again. Don't hesitate to bring your furry family members here, they really do care. ❤️

The Kool Kids Kaser

I have a couple of issues this place. First, they took my babies to an undisclosed room as soon as we walked in. I was not allowed to be with my pups, and I have no idea how they were treated when they were out of my presence. But I did hear a number of dogs, yelping, which I did confirm were not mine. We completed the bloodwork and the vaccinations, and decided to go elsewhere. Since we started looking for a new vet, we unfortunately had a an Emergency. We called to have our pup looked at, and were told they could see her in three days. I am appalled and astonished.
