How to Save Money at Magnolia Animal Dentistry

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Magnolia Animal Dentistry was recommended to us by our local Primary Care Vet because our little 14 year old Chihuahua was recently diagnosed with a heart murmur and needed life saving dental surgery. BEFORE SURGERY: I called Magnolia and they walked me through all our options and their process with great care and detail. I was on the phone for some time asking questions and never once felt rushed from them. I scheduled my dog’s surgery and requested to be put on the cancellation list just in case an opening came up sooner. I even had a chance to price check the recommended pre-surgery labs with my primary vet and Magnolia as over $150 cheaper for the exact same comprehensive senior dog lab testing so obviously I set that up through Magnolia as well! We did the labs right away and the results were very quick. So quick in fact that a cancellation came up within a day or so and they had all the labs back that they needed for me to feel confident accepting the cancellation appointment and moving up the surgery date. Even the experience of drawing the pre surgery blood was done with great care! DURING DENTAL SURGERY: They took great care of our little dog and after the thorough pre/in surgery exam and cleaning the Dr contacted us to go over her findings and provided us an accurate assessment of what dental procedures were needed to keep our little dog healthy. AFTER SURGERY: Upon discharge we had a personal checkout appointment that was also very thorough and packed full of love and care for our little dog and her health. We were instructed on the “do’s and dont’s“ for her post op care and scheduled a 2 week dental follow up to make sure her post op recovery is going as planned. We left with our dog and her medications and were contacted the next day to check in on her recovery and answer any questions we may have had. Tomorrow is our “2 week” post op follow up appointment (included with surgery) and we look forward to another great experience with Magnolia’s exceptional care team as they look over our little dog’s mouth to make sure her gums are healing properly! In summary, I wish to express my profound gratitude for Magnolia Animal Dentistry and their teams knowledge, confidence and ability to care for our senior dog’s complex dental heath! ❣️🐾❣️

The Magnolia team took such amazing care of our Bentley boy! He went in last month for blood work first and then a teeth cleaning and both times were so seamless. They were friendly and very thorough in explaining everything. We are so impressed with his teeth and we had zero issues! Thank you again, Magnolia team!

Staff are kind and professional. The price is reasonable ($510 without extractions and $678 with a separate appointment for 3 extractions), especially compared to my vets office. wait time for an appointment 3 weeks for cleaning and 2 weeks for the extractions, also compared to my vets office (6+ months).

The level of care and professionalism was top notch. My dog was so well cared for and I was kept informed during the entire process. After an unpleasant dental experience at another vet, I would highly encourage other pet owners to seek dental care at Magnolia as it’s their speciality.

Had our Bella in for a teeth cleaning last week. The price was 40% less than our vet wanted to charge. Everyone who works there was so kind to us and Bella. They communicated costs clearly. They texted reminders and night before directions. Will recommend them and use them again.
