How to Save Money at Juno Veterinary Leaside

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We booked with Juno on a whim to get a second opinion on a gastro issue my senior dog had. I paid the annual membership fee and was able to book an appointment the next morning at the Leaside location. Their locations have dog treats readily available and a drink fridge for humans fully stocked. The clinic was comfortable and clean, with warm staff. I have used the 24/7 vet tech care through the app on countless occasions, more than I can count in just the last few months, where there was a concern in the middle of the night or a question about the meds, or needing a refill of something. We went to emergency one night, and after alerting the Juno techs on the app, they had already sent my dog's records and bloodwork to the emergency clinic before we arrived for a really seamless process. We had to say goodbye last week to our senior dog (at the Bloorwest location). The appointment was very respectful and dignified. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye and gave us tissue packs to go. They gave her some yummy dog food to slurp up because she was hungry. There was a fluffy blanket for her to lie down on. She was comfortable until the very end. I couldn't have asked for a better service for such a hard time. I also got a notification that our membership would be paused afterwards, which I appreciated. I have gone to other vets where I had to say goodbye to a pet and then got an automatic notification about something later on when they forgot to note that my pet had passed, which can be quite triggering. The 24/7 online care alone is worth going to Juno for already. But the service in person and the warmth of their staff make their service above and beyond what a pet owner could ask for. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you to Dr Laura and the Leaside team for your care for Poppy in her last couple months. She is happily running around with ease over the rainbow bridge.

Loving our experience with Juno Vet so far for our cat. The chat feature on the app is incredible and really gives us peace of mind. We've seen Dr. Alleguede twice now at the Leaside location and she's been great! Everyone is very warm and friendly here and you can tell they really care about the animals.

Super friendly staff. Very compassionate and attentive. The vet offered both comprehensive (subscription based) services as well as minimally sufficient treatments as options. Billing was seamless but a little opaque - I wasn't sure exactly what I paid as it was just automatically charged to my cc.

Was away when my cat died. I managed to arrange everything through their app via chat instead of making expensive international calls. All the staffs were very responsive and provided great comfort and support which meant a lot in time of grief. I'm glad they put my cat on hold in their freezer since I was able to see my cat one last time before sending him off for cremation. They didn't even charge me for 2 weeks of storage! Their cremation prices quoted were the same as market price meaning they didn't take a cut for the service. The clinic is super modern, comfy and clean with free treats for pets and a coffee machine. I could stay in their lobby all day!

Amazing doctors work at this clinic. My cat suffered a tail injury last summer and the clinic was amazing to work with to get him to full recovery. No upselling attempts at any stage and just pure compassion about the pain my cat is going through. The doctor messaged multiple times just to check on the recovery progress. Today we had an annual checkup and saw another doctor and she was kind, knowledgeable and wonderful with Leo. The space is also very welcoming.
