How to Save Money at Live with Grace Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff is very helpful and friendly! Dr. Rue is the best Veterinarian we have had since we moved from NJ to Fl 4 years ago. She is extremely knowledgeable, caring and makes the time to call you with information regarding your fur baby. My dog has many gastrointestinal problems and she is quite knowledgeable in that area and also can perform an ultrasound if needed. I’m so happy that she opened her practice here which is minutes from our home!

There are veterinarians, and then there are truly gifted animal lovers who treat every pet like family. Dr. Rew is one of those rare people. Her compassion, dedication, and genuine love for dogs shines through in everything she does. From the moment you walk into her beautiful new animal hospital, you can feel the warmth, care, and passion she has poured into making it a place where pets and their families feel safe and loved. She takes the time to listen, explain, and care deeply for our Boomer and beloved Simon. My dogs have always been treated with incredible kindness, patience, and expert care. Watching her open her very own hospital is such an exciting and well-deserved accomplishment. God bless her and her staff.

My mini Aussiedoodle Mandy, age 3, had become terrified at her last two vet appointments. Since we had moved a distance away, I decided to try a new vet experience and office scenery. I called to get permission to bring Mandy in a couple times just for a quick look around, maybe a treat or two. That was accomplished and laid ground work for our appointment. The moment we walked through the door for the scheduled appointment it was obvious this new practice in Riverland is striving for excellence. Front desk personnel Molly and Darien were kind, efficient and attentive during check in. We had no wait time as Vet Tech Summer greeted us warmly. We were escorted to a comfy room complete with sofa, chair and matching floor scale. It looked nothing like a typical exam room. Summer asked us pertinent questions, was gentle and “treated” Mandy well. (Literally!) Dr. Jolin came in with a warm greeting, got down on Mandy’s level, spoke sweetly to her, gave the Bordetella vaccine then the lepto nasal, and it was over before Mandy knew it! We opted to return for a tech to do the heart worm test later so that this visit would remain stress free and happy! I highly recommend this practice. If you’re new to the area or need a change for whatever reason, this might be the perfect place for you and your pet(s).

I recently took my mini Goldendoodle to Live with Grace for an ear infection, and Dr. Rew was fantastic. She was incredibly kind, informative, and caring; my Goldendoodle warmed right up to her and was even jumping on her by the end of the visit! The hospital is brand new, and while they are still fine-tuning their administrative processes, the staff is so friendly that I am excited to watch them grow and be part of their client base. The facility is spotless and modern, I’m just so thrilled to finally have such a great vet so close to home!

My five year-old golden doodle has struggled with digestive issues ever since she was born. I have taken her to multiple Vets and have been in and out of emergency animal care when she has had pancreatic attacks. Dr. Rew provided compassionate care and recommendations for diet and probiotic use that have resulted in my sweet girl finally thriving and feeling good.
