How to Save Money at Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers - Fort Myers, FL

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This entire team showed me and my German Shorthaired Pointer, Rocket an incredible level of compassion, kindness, and empathy during one of the hardest times of our lives. Navigating an osteosarcoma diagnosis for our dog was overwhelming and heartbreaking, but Dr.Beck treated him and us with such gentleness and understanding. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered every question with patience, and never once made us feel rushed or dismissed.Their warmth, reassurance, and genuine love for animals brought us comfort when we needed it most. We will forever be grateful for the exceptional care, empathy, and support they gave our family.

This vet and every single person who works there is absolutely AMAZING!! Doctor Andrea is so kind, helpful, genuine and honest! My dog ate a palm nut and had severe diarrhea and vomiting I originally brought her to VetNow in Cape Coral because it was closer to me (big mistake) they quoted me 8,000 dollars and basically told me my dog was dying, I knew something wasn’t right about the place, I could feel it from the moment I walked in so I told them I wanted to call Fetch because I had brought my other dog there when she chewed on a battery on Christmas morning and they were absolutely amazing. I called fetch and they were able to have VetNow call them and I ended up transferring Luna (my dog) over to fetch and I’m so very happy I did! VetNow still had me pay the $165 exam fee but it was worth it to receive the proper care I needed for my dog with people who actually care about the work they’re doing!!! Andrea is the best doctor, she truly cares about the patients both human and fur baby. Liz, Christina and Jill went above and beyond to keep us comfortable and entertained while we waiting for the bloodwork and x rays to come back and after some fluids, some anti nausea meds and anti diarrhea meds we were able to bring Luna home and saved ourselves about 6 grand! I will only be coming to Fetch from now on whenever we have an emergency or our primary vet isn’t available. Huge shout out to all those beautiful ladies who made a very bad day a little bit better. You guys are doing gods work. 1000/1000 recommend bringing your fur babies here!!! Thank you guys again so so so so much!!! You guys were absolutely amazing with Luna and I’m forever grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you Andrea, Liz, Christina and Jill!!! Thank you Fetch!!!

Doctor Chetney & the entire staff at this Ft Myers location were absolutely amazing. They made sure our entire experience with our pet was treated with dignity, professionalism & respect. They allowed our family to spend as much needed time with him privately in a room, to say our goodbye & compose ourselves afterward. Everyone was so compassionate & kind during the entire process. We want to thank everyone present for making such a difficult moment so peaceful & unique for our wonderful Zeus. The services were professional & very reasonable with the extra touch of sympathy throughout. Highly recommend anyone consider this facility if the moment arises to have your pet treated with the utmost dignity.

We were quite impressed with the professionalism at Fetch in Fort Myers. Dr. Ziglioli and the team were very informative about what they plan to do with Bella, our 5 year old GSP. Once we got home from our visit, we received a detailed plan of action for her next appointment. My husband said it looked like a report you would receive from your own doctor on yourself after a physical. We feel like we made the right decision in choosing Fetch to discover what is going on with her nasal issue. We will know more after our visit tomorrow. Thank you . Tamara & Phil Carrott… and Bella 🐶

My cat, Oscar Rose was seen quickly. The staff was accommodating and professional. Dr Burke was phenomenal. Her knowledge and experience shined during our consultation. We finally felt like Oscar was in good hands.
