How to Save Money at Animal Clinic of Casselberry

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Today was my second visit to this vet. I took my golden retriever Reggi because he was due for annual shots and has been dealing with a lot of itchy flaky skin. We saw Dr Vega and Belle and they were both SO fantastic. Super clear about instructions and options for treatment, very sweet with my very enthusiastic pup, and transparent about pricing. I felt heard, and feel that Reggi got excellent care for a very reasonable price. We'll definitely be using them for future visits.

Brought my chihuahuas there almost 18 years. My pups loved Dr. Hill, and we all hated to see him retire. Compared to other private vets their prices are competitive. It's extremely easy to get an appointment and they have great staff.

No Price Sticker Shock! I was walked through the laundry list of issues with my 20 year old Poofy Cat with costs and priority of care. This should be your Vet.

We brought our 13-year-old dog in for a checkup because she had been biting and scratching herself to the point of tearing out clumps of fur, she needed to be watched almost around the clock. This clinic told us she had fleas, despite the fact that she had a grand total of one flea on her the entire time. She slept in bed with us every single night, so we would have absolutely noticed if she had a flea problem. She didn't. Then they put her on antibiotics that weren't even prescribed long enough to work. They started fishing for more tests, more money, more nothing. Meanwhile our dog was suffering. We just wanted her pain-free and treated, not used as a walking invoice. We finally left and found a real vet, who diagnosed a skin infection almost immediately and treated it quickly and effectively. When they looked at the paperwork from this place, the look on their face was of pure disgust. To top it off, we found out we'd been paying for medication that isn't even supposed to be given to dogs over 10, something this clinic never once mentioned, because apparently basic due diligence is optional here. Since this clinic changed ownership, the attitude in the building has been passive-aggressive, uninterested, and uncaring. On top of that, nearly every medication we bought here was marked up significantly higher than what we now pay at our current vet. After driving us away with incompetence, they started mailing us coupons for 20% off checkups. Imagine a pediatrician giving your kid medication they were never supposed to have, then sending you a discount flyer afterward. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who wants their pet's health taken seriously. The animal clinic that we go to now is Seminole Trail Animal Hospital and they have been nothing short of wonderful. Our only regret is not switching to them sooner.

This clinic is always superb. We brought our 2 dogs to have their nails clipped. It is always a traumatic experience for them but today was made much easier by Ashley. She took such good care and kept our 2 boys calm and they didnt struggle like they usually do. You can really tell that Ashley's love for animals runs deep. Thank you, Ashley!! I would recommend Animal Clinic of Casselberry to anyone.
