How to Save Money at Three Oaks Veterinary Wellness Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Taylor has been wonderful with all my dogs. They can always see them anytime they need to be seen. Dr Taylor has done surgery and and other wellness services at a great price. Front desk staff are always kind and supportive of what is happening. Thank you Three Oaks Veterinary!!!! Update 6/11/25: Dr Taylor and staff saved my Lil’ Porkchop again!!! I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am for their service. My pup was severely distressed and Dr Taylor did it again. I owe my life to them for caring for my service dog. Grateful is an understatement!

Hello. I do not suggest that you patronize this Veterinary Clinic. First reason is that they OVER Schedule GROSSLY. I waited an hour in the 90 degree heat with a large parrot and a puppy that was not allowed inside due to illness. I came 30 minutes early and then waited 30 minutes past my appointment time. This was NOT the first time I waited this long. I bet if the shoes were on the other foot and I was 30 minutes late, they would have sent me home! Additionally, It is my opinion as well as another reputable Veterinarian that Dr. Taylor performs certain services that are NOT medically necessary (Testing, Scans, Sonograms etc.) as well as overpriced items such as "Probiotics" in which I was told she would not prescribe the needed Meds unless I bought the Probiotic. All of this resulting in expensive bills and more money in her coffers. My next issue, they want to record your voice during visits and interactions??? When I told the Doctor that I didn't want to be recorded she told me should would be happy to transfer my records to another doctor if I chose not to be recorded. THAT SHOULD BE MY CHOICE!!!! NOW, that is great customer service. As a result, that is exactly what I did...I found another Vet. Keep up the good work, honest and transparent practices and AWESOME customer service. See how that works out for you. The ironic thing is, I was recommended to this place by a trusted friend.. I will be letting that person know about my issues also. You wont be getting any more of my money!!! Good luck.

I give 3 stars because of the lack of bird knowledge. I learned more at a bird santuary about my bird and how to take care of her wings beak and nails than this vet could tell or show me. Not too mention what I learned by looking online this vet is way off base and knows nothing about birds. She hacked my birds wings it didnt feel right when she cut them and now I know why. Because she cut all the wrong feathers she is untrained and dont know what she is talking about. The woman at the bird santuary I go to was appalled at how horrible the wing clipping was. Not impressed at all with the fact that this person went and paid for an education only to not be educated at all. Do not bring your birds here she is a hack and dont know what she is doing. Nice lady for sure but uneducated in every sense of the word. Im a nice guy but I dont claim to know things I certainly know nothing about. I wish I had known before going to this vet amd spending so much for something that was WRONG. They were fine with my dogs but as for birds they are not good at all. Here let me update so we can be clear, the last appointment yeah she didn't get wings done but the time before that she did and the wrong feathers were cut in fact learning at a place where the handle over 200 birds the woman looked at the wing clipping and said that them were the wrong feathers because them are the glide feathers the ones she needs to catch herself if she falls right now she would just slam on the ground like a brick has no way to catch herself and when those feathers grow back they tend to poke the birds in the sides of the chest potentially causing a plucking issue. So no I do not need to discuss this further I just had to add so that you understood. Great place for dogs and cats but birds there are better alternatives.

Dr. Taylor and her staff are caring and compassionate about our older dogs with older dog problems. Always able to answer questions. Prices are reasonable and won't break the bank.
