How to Save Money at The Lois Pope Pet Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Forever Grateful we are to the Lois Pope Pet Clinic. After our 8 year old Rotti fractured his front leg and was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer we were lost and feared we’d have to make a difficult decision. We were quoted by multiple vets/clinics between $10k - $20k for an amputation. We launched a GoFundMe but that wasn’t enough. A veterinarian recommended the Lois Pope Pet Clinic and saved Papis life. After an X-Ray they discovered no cancer in his body only the arm and they were able to amputate the very next day. We are Forever Grateful to this Clinic and will always speak highly of the work they do. Papi is healing wonderfully and walking well on all 3 legs ☺️ Thank You to the Owners, board members, Vets, nurses, and the kind hearted front office workers & Jane. We Love You. 🩷

On February 20, 2026, I brought my dog by the name of Brookie to Dr Pope clinic. From the time that I arrived with my yellow lab, Two nice ladies saw that I need to help in the parking lot with my dog and without requesting them, came to my vehicle and helped me. The receptionist, the Assistant and Dr. Pope were wonderful with my dog and talking to me. I could tell that the staff Really love pets and how important they are to our life. Not only did I receive great care for my dog But the full examination with all kinds of test was far more reasonable than any vet that I’ve been to. When the appointment was done one of the techs Volunteered to help me with my dog and she placed Her in the back of my SUV. My compliments to the whole staff, and I can truly say without hesitation that I strongly recommend this facility for your pets. Thank you and well done👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Our family has used this pet clinic more than one time. We have a 16y/o Maltese shitzu mix. Her teeth were in very bad condition and they removed them all with no incident. We had to bring her back for an emergency visit for her eye. Luckily we have this veterinary office to turn to in an emergency or normal visits. I would recommend. It's worth the drive as well if you come from Broward.

This pet clinic is wonderful. The vets and vet techs have compassion for animals. I’ve taken my dogs and a sick cat here and every time the service and outcome is fantastic. They prices are fair, lower than other vets, the office staff is very friendly and communicate/follow up well. The staff works with dog and cat rescues on site, they are very accommodating and know how to care for the animals. They do not do anything unnecessary and give you options. I was helping an outside cat and other places were going to force sedation to even examine the animal and the Lois pope pet clinic said no, we don’t want to do that unless it’s necessary, they were able to see, treat and vaccinate the cat without sedation. 10 stars!!!!

We absolutely love The Lois Pope Pet Clinic and highly recommend them. We found our precious Bella 10 years ago at Tri County Animal Rescue and were overjoyed when the Clinic opened. The veterinarian is incredible. He really cares about animals, as does everyone there. Our baby had a stroke, but she is back and happy once again. We are so grateful for the doctor and the clinic.
