How to Save Money at 441 Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We brought our dog there for emergency stitches after he jumped on his ceramic water bowl and cut his paw. The bandage fell off one day later, and we were charged hundreds of dollars for a new bandage. In total we spend several thousand dollars. When we brought him back to get his stitches out, they left him in a cage where he injured himself. He came home covered in blood, including his harness. We also discovered blood and bite marks on his head cone. We later discovered that they accidentally left stitches in so we had to bring him back to have them removed. The staff is nice, but the Veterinarian is loud and impolite. Our dog is noticeably afraid of him. We will never go back there.

Dr. Levy and his team are caring, trustworthy and accommodating. They treated us like family and our pets as if they were one of their own. Highly recommend!

I have known Dr Levy for over 25 years. He hasn’t changed he loves his job and most of all he loves the pets. I had my 4 lb chihuahua neutered on Monday and within a few hours it was completed. I was informed of his status by his great staff. They followed up with me everyday to see how Milo was doing. Thank you 441 Animal Hospital for taking such great care of my puppy. Dr. Levy you are the best Vet ever. I come from Ft. Lauderdale just for Dr. Levy. ❤️

I have been coming to 441 Animal Hospital since day two with my puppy and couldn't be happier + satisfied with the experience. As a first-time pet owner, the front-desk staff put me completely at ease from my first appointment onwards - answering all of my questions, both in person and over the phone, and being kind + patient with each interaction, regardless of who I spoke with (special shoutout to Susie, Lorraine, and Remy). I also can't say enough positive feedback on Dr. Levy - he is exactly who you would want as your pup's vet. From our first appointment's 'puppy spiel' going through all the ins + outs of how to care for a puppy, to around-the-clock support for my questions, to a genuine passion for his life's work of caring for these animals. It's easy to fall into internet rabbit holes when caring for a new puppy, but Dr. Levy set me back on the right track and alleviated those worries with his advice based on decades of experience. You can tell how much he loves animals and has exuded such positivity and encouragement towards my family as we start on our pet journey. I look forward to many more healthy + happy years with my pup visiting Dr. Levy and his excellent staff.

Dr. Levy is the greatest of all time, and all of his staff are super friendly and welcoming. I was very worried about the unsure diagnosis another vet had given me about my puppy’s urinary issues, and Dr. Levy had me wishing I had worked with him from the start. On top of great communication and explaining very well what the possible issues would be, I could tell instantly that after many years working in the industry, he still loves every single pet he gets to meet and work with. Can’t wait to return for Ruby’s follow-up.
