How to Save Money at Millwoods East Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have been going to this clinic for 25 years. Dr Leger is always so patient and compassionate with both me and my pets. I completely trust her to always give me the best advice. I have also seen the other Doctors there and they are all very good. The techs and support staff are fantastic. Very kind and always willing to help. I would not take my pets anywhere else.

We recently visited the vet, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. Dr. Noor was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. As first-time pet owners, we had plenty of questions, and she took the time to answer each one thoroughly without making us feel rushed. She ensured we felt confident and informed every step of the way. The nurse (I believe her name was Allison) was equally warm and attentive. They both made sure our fur baby was calm and comfortable during the examination and vaccination, which made the whole experience much easier for us as pet parents. The reception staff was also courteous, greeting us with a warm smile and assisting us in a very welcoming manner. While the prices are a bit higher than other clinics we've considered (after chatting with friends), the level of care and attention we received was definitely worth it. It’s clear that they prioritize the well-being of their patients, and we were very satisfied with the service. Overall, we had a fantastic visit and would highly recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone looking for compassionate and professional care for their pets!

Our 2 dogs have been cared for by Dr. Lewis, Dr.Legere and Dr Ranagan. Over the past several months the cure, care and dentistry they've received here has been first rate!! I have never been to a clinic that does everything in-house and it really shows in the quality of treatment. But above all the Veterinarians are amazing, really they are. The staff, each and every one in their own special way, make you feel very comfortable, and you know that they really care. Its not just a pay cheque. I've seen my one dog get better in a few months, rather than not knowing for years and the other had surgery on his tiny knee and his care has been above and beyond my expectations. Truĺy, they are so kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and careful about the care they give each animal that comes through their doors. I also feel they care for the owners, the caregivers of the babies they treat. So very refreshing. I can honestly say that when it comes to a pets care it's not just the people who work there. If the Veterinarians don't find time to really dig or research to fix an issue for your pet, finding a cure can be difficult. I'm very glad i knew my neighbor's cats have been cared for very well by them it really made switching easier. So I'm hoping if you feel your pet deserves the very best care because they are your babies like I do perhaps visit this clinic.

I had been visiting other clinic that is a little far from my house. I decided to take my cat "Milo" for his 3rd vaccine here since its just on walking distance. My decision to to support business of neighbor's turned out to be expensive since I was over charged. They over charged me. Other clinics would charge me $130 while I paid $199.90. I have gone though all the reviews here. I don't know why people are praising them. I don't care if everyone here was sweet or not. Being sweet and charging you extra money for that doesn't make sense. I'll never go back there. Everyone here before writing reviews and praising them please check other clinics and compare prices and be honest please.

I have been taking my pet family members to Millwoods East Vet Clinic for literally decades. I can honestly say that in all of that time, Dr. Legere, and all of the doctors, and all of the support staff have always been dedicated, professional, kind and compassionate, as well thorough and precise. That thoroughness and precision saved our dog Guinness's life by detecting cancer extraordinarily early. I also appreciate the sense of humour and joy they all bring to the clinic- to both humans and animals alike. Millwoods East Vet Clinic is a crucial part of our family's lives.
