How to Save Money at Beverly Virgil Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We've been coming to Beverly Virgil for about 5 years now and both Dr. Kim and Dr. Ryu have been kind, straight forward, honest about the necessity of treatments and tests, and efficient. I have referred them to friends who have gotten much lower surgery price quotes than other places. They are also one of the few vets in LA where you can walk in and be seen that day. We'll keep coming back for our dog's regular care.

My cat Santino , normally goes to another vet nearby for routine things shots etc however they are not open on the weekend and desperately needed to find a place that would take him and I circled back to this place. I had been here before in 2020 and did not want to go back because of the experience , which really was not their fault, but it was heartbreaking. This time I just walked in and Santino was seen by Dr., Ryu who examined him and explained he had urinary obstruction which can be deadly for male cats. He explained the treatment that he thought would help and gave me an estimate which is helpful even if you have pet insurance.. as I do. I was very surprised how reasonable it was with all the things they had to do and the treatment and change in diet worked. My cat is back to himself and recovering. Having been to a lot of vets in my life this one really surprised me with the cleanliness, professional staff and compassion that they seem to have for the animals. I was so happy with them that i took my other cat with us on the follow up visit to get her acquainted with them and get her shots up to date. While i respect and understand that everyone has a different experience as i did the very first time I can only say that this experience has been a great one. I feel like I have a place to depend on for my cats care. .Look into pet insurance for your animals its worth it!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this clinic deserves one. At my cat’s first vaccination visit, I was clearly told that the second vaccine would be free, and that a flea treatment scheduled three months later would also be included at no cost. When I returned for the follow-up visit, I was suddenly presented with multiple surprise charges that were never disclosed or explained beforehand. When I questioned this, the veterinarian dismissed my concern by saying that “making a mistake once isn’t a big deal.” There was no apology, no accountability, and no attempt to resolve the issue. On top of that, during the first visit, I was told my cat had fleas — even though there had been no signs prior to that appointment. Flea treatment was administered, yet 2–3 weeks later the fleas were still present. When I called the clinic for guidance, I was told there was nothing they could do because medication had already been given. There was zero effort to help, advise, or take responsibility. We ended up hiring a professional cleaning service, and despite that, the issue continued. Instead of offering support, the clinic shifted the blame entirely, claiming it must be the cleaning company’s fault. The attitude throughout this process was dismissive, careless, and borderline unbelievable. This clinic shows a clear pattern: take the money, then take no responsibility. There is a serious lack of transparency, integrity, and basic professionalism. I will not be returning, and I strongly warn others to get every promise and every charge in writing — because verbal assurances here clearly mean nothing.

We love this vet! Been coming for over a year for routine vaccines and when our big dog got sick with a mysterious stomach bug. Super clean, great professional staff, and our dog loves both vets - and he isn’t instantly chummy with most strangers so this is saying something. Despite not taking appointments, they move quickly and the wait isn’t that long. (But even a 25 min wait feels pleasant in the calm and clean space.)
