Do not recommend
EDIT: After several emails back and forth, Trupanion confirmed that I have more than one category for 'mass(es)' both with separate deductibles even though they were the same, and submitted the same. Complete waste of time.
Do not recommend. I’ve been with Trupanion for 10+ years and have paid over $10,000 in monthly insurance, above and beyond all of his vet costs. So far in my dogs 11 years, he has had less than a handful of things covered. Most recently he underwent surgery to remove and test some lumps and Trupanion is not covering any of the lumps despite "mass(es)" having previously reached the deductible years ago. Not only are they now breaking the lumps down by type they are also doing by location. This means that if the cells are even remotely different, or in a different spot, they begin their own deductible. So, if it isn’t the same type and same spot it doesn’t go towards my deductible. I don’t recall this being the case when we started - and none of these are pre existing conditions (before the start of policy) since I’ve had the policy since my dog was 6 months old. Despite a couple of appeals, I still cannot get clear information on the breakdown of deductibles, nor was I ever never notified of a change to my policy.
I would advise speaking to all other possible insurance companies when looking at a policy for your pet because you won’t be receiving the coverage that you need through Trupanion.
