Extremely disappointing experience
We enrolled our pup with Trupanion in 2022. Five months in to his enrolment he fell ill Trupanion paid 90% of our claim. We were very happy and loyal. In 2024 April our pet fell ill again and we submitted a claim and it is still outstanding ever since. We realized that vets don't like doing the paperwork involved ( probably there is not enough incentive) they asked us to provide paper work from our vet which was not what we signed up for. Their ad stated that they will approve a claim while we are at the vet, which is also not true, out of our two claims since 2022 one claim took minimum 10 days to settle and the other one is still outstanding since April 2024. Premiums increases every year based on our postal code ,$40, per month, they say that vet care in our postal code had increased. Since we were disappointed with the service we received , we shopped around with other pet insurance providers, their premiums for our postal code is $40 cheaper. (So vet fee increase in our area is a lie)
We have cancelled our insurance with Trupanion recently. On the day of cancellation they credited our account $171 stating that it was owing to us and on the same day they took the $171 back. Since April 2024 I have received at-least 3 emails stating that our claim/appeal have been assigned to three different appeals specialists (its a delay tactic). How many specialists do you need to decide on a $440 claim. I strongly believe that its a scam, playing delay tactic, depositing and taking money into your account as they wish and without your authorization. Members be aware.Shop around there are better deals and services with other insurance providers.
