It's a good company that is reliable to pay claims.

It's a good company that is reliable to pay claims. I was disappointed that being a loyal paying customer for the past 17+ years, I wasn't eligible for a first free month with our new puppy and I had to wait 2 30 days for any illness coverage. This is due to our vet not dealing with Trupanion and not able to offer the deal. This is our third dog we've insured with Trupanion. We were offered a free first month and immediate coverage with pets plus us pet insurance but I declined it because I'm loyal to Trupanion.

Great support over 14 years - highly recommend

Over the 14 years of our dog Lola's life Trupanion provided excellent support and I have recommended them to many new pet owners. After she had her first knee surgery the insurance paid for itself. After a 2nd knee surgery and cancer treatments we knew it was money well spent. I do not think that we could have given Lola the life that she had without Trupanion's support. To me pet insurance is about being able to give your pet the best care possible - not worrying about the costs of any tests or procedures they might need. If am not sure if/when we will be ready to have another dog. But, if we do we will most certainly be back with Trupanion. Thanks again!

Over the life of the dog about $19K was…

Over the life of the dog about $19K was paid out in monthly insurance. About $900 was returned, as there was always a reason why they would not cover something. It started out at $100 a month, and is now $150. It would have been 1000% better to put that money in a bank account for vet bills. It is now the end of the dog's life, and I am furious.

Because of your excellent response time in processing the first claim I've submitted that went beyond my deductible. After years of paying my premiums, I had to submit a claim following a very difficult, and expensive, experience at an emergency hospital, and my claim was quickly processed and my payment was deposited within about 3 days. So thank you.

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
