My daily insurance claims - and my saved puppy!

A little over a month ago, my 9 month old German Shepherd puppy was attacked by another dog. After emergency surgery and drainage tubes, he had to go back to the vet three times for popped stitches. A few weeks later the wound was still not healing properly and they decided to do a bacterial culture to figure out what the problem was. We found out that my dog had contracted a methicillin resistant bacteria that was not responding to treatment. Our choices were few: 1) an injection I would have to give him twice a day that could cause his kidneys to shut down or 2) pills we would have to give him that are toxic to humans and could cause my own bone marrow to stop producing red blood cells. After thinking about our options, we decided to get a second opinion from UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital. UC Davis world reknowned for having incredible veterinary care. After biopsies, blood work, and cultures they helped us make a decision on which antibiotic to give my Ben. Within 48 hours of starting this medication his wound had closed. The infection was very deep (only about 1.5mm away from his bone) so he will need to remain on antibiotics for another 2 months, but he is back to being a puppy again. I cannot stress to you how incredibly fortunate we were to have Trupanion insurance and not have to make medical decisions based on how much everything cost. There were times in the last few months where I was submitting insurance claims DAILY. Trupanion always responded

TRUPANION - FABULOUS, RELIABLE, QUICK

My German Shepard puppy of 7 months came down with pneumonia. I called Trupanion to get pre-approval because we had to transfer him to the hospital. Being that he would be in the hospital for a few days we knew the bill would end up being a few thousand for his 4 day 24 hour care! I called Trupanion and the pre-approval representative was extremely instrumental in guiding me with great support to process the claim quickly - literally within 24 hours! Once we were pre-approved, I could relax and focus on my puppy's recovery! In a time of uncertainty just knowing that they were on top of it helped me feel more confident that my pup would be taken care of. That in and of itself is worth its weight in gold! Had VPI for my other pet and I would definItely choose Trupanion HANDS DOWN!

Great company!!

I typically never write reviews but Trupanion has been unbelievable and I wanted to share my experience.My cat is 12 years old and last year I started shopping for an insurance company because although she had always been healthy she was getting older. It was hard to find an insurance company that would cover an older cat indefinitely, especially with all the sketchy reviews. I finally decided to stick to Trupanion and that was the best decision I made. I have 90% coverage, no deductible and they even improved my policy after enrollment and waived my lifetime limit (which was 20,000 when I signed) A couple of months after my policy started, my cat got sick and she required multiple tests and visits to the vet. I have filed approx 6-7 claims (probably total >1000$) and I have been extremely surprised and pleased. They have never denied a claim and on the contrary they go out of their way to make sure that everything is processed in a timely manner. Their claims are usually processed in 2-4 days and I usually get the checks the following week. I am a very satisfies costumer and have recommended Trupanion to all my friends who are pet lovers!!

Thank Goodness

I'm not the best writer,but I wanted to say Trupanion is the (one of )best things we did as a family for our dogs. Jesse our youngest dog got hurt rough housing/playing with our other dog.Trupanion came through for us and saved us alot of money. We are not rich people and pet insurance we didn't think we could afford, but we got a duductable we can afford. Never thinking we would really use it . But guess what !! Life happens .. Jesse hurt his jaw and the costs would have left us to borrow money from family and friends if it wasn't for Trupanion. We our so greatful. My poor writing skills can't express enough. Trupanion is a life saver!

Trupanion Pet Insurance is the best choice I have ever made. My 12 year old greyhound was diagnosed with splenic hemangiosarcoma and had to have surgery to remove a mass and her spleen. She is currently undergoing a round of chemotherapy treatments. We have finished the second treatment and she is doing amazing! And the best part is that because of Trupanion, I can spend my time focusing on my precious Sweetie Pie, and not worrying about "the money"! Trupanion has quickly and effeciently paid each and every claim I have submitted to them! It has been a true lifesaver having this insurance. I can't recommend it more. I am telling all my friends and family to get on board! You will never be sorry you got insurance, only sorry you didn't! Trupanion has made this horrible time a whole lot easier to bear for my family. I will have Trupanion Pet Insurance on all my animals from now on. No question. Trupanion Rocks!

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions
