Severe choking episode.

As a veterinarian, many may think it strange that I carry insurance on my 3 companions. It was a great relief knowing I had this insurance when at 9P one night my 8 y.o. Corgi lodged her rawhide chew in her trachea. Efforts to remove it myself resulted in a bite wound to myself and a worsening of her condition. I then drove her quickly to the nearby pet emergency as the time to call in my own staff would have been excessive. In the end, the skill level this facility provided was essentially for saving her life. It was a comfort knowing that I would not have to make any choices in her care...she received the best thanks to Trupanion!

fast approval

my little girl, 2 yrs old, has had some recent ongoing issues that has required some addt'l tests, etc to find out what's going on. After contacting Trupanion, I had the claim and it was processed within 2 days. So far, I am very pleased with them and hope I don't need them so much in the future :)

Thanks Trupanion

Trupanion reviewed my dogs claim for a specific disease and approved payment after a veterinarian review. I am thankful for their consideration and final approval. This is exactly why I insure all 3 of my pets, 2 dogs and one cat with Trupanion- in case of any unforeseen catastrophic illnesses or accidents. They didn't let me down.

Great service and fast turn around

Having been a client for several years, this coverage is becoming invaluable now that my 2 cats are aging and developing health issues. Reimbursement is usually quick and accurate and any questions which arise are answered promptly. I particularly value being able to tailor coverage to my needs and budget.

excellant service - worth the price

My cat was at the vet and I was told she needed hospitalization. I called Trupanion to find out if she was covered. The staff at Trupanion immediately worked with the hospital staff to get the treatment plan pre-approved and paid the veterinary hospital directly. All I had to pay was my portion of the bill. If I had to pay the entire bill and wait to be reimbursed, my cat would not have been able to get the treatment she needed. Thank You Trupanion!

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
