Trupanion has great coverage

My dog was diagnosed with heart failure almost 2 years ago. The medications, xrays, bloodwork, echocardiograms, etc. cost thousands of dollars. Trupanion paid 90% of the costs and the money was usually in my account before my credit card bill came in. I'm not sure I could have afforded such wonderful veterinary care without them. I chose Trupanion (vetinsurance) because there wasn't a limit for each category of care/diagnosis.

Cat Care for hyperthyroidism

The only reason this company does not get a 10 is that they do not cover teeth cleaning. Other than that they are the best . I haven't been paid on the highest claim yet, but they will cover per telcon.

Very happy with my choice of trupanion for my pets

I have 4 pets with coverage. I've had minor things happen, and lately a bigger deal when my dog was diagnosed with hemmorhagic gastritis and vomiting. We had him to the vet several times for everything from diagnosing, treating, hydrating, ultrasounds, special diets, and internal medicine consults. We are arond a $1,300.00 bill so far, and not done yet. After submitting a very simple form after each visit, we were re-ibursed 90%. That's it. It was that simple. No arguments or hidden problems, just our money back. I've had the same experience every time I've submitted a claim. No hassles, no questions, no worries. The only drawback I can see is that my dog will require a more expensive prescription diet for life, and the insurance only covers 50% of that cost and only two months of coverage is allowed. That's kind of frustrating, Very, very happy with the coverage over all though. Took the stress out of giving my pup the things he needs to get better. I highly recommend this company.

personally...fantastic...

I am so very glad that I have pet insurance. I was not totally convinced at first as I was informed that my puppy was from an excellent breed. However, "murphy's law" showed up and I have not regretted my decision since. I highly recommend everyone to get pet insurance simply because our pets are our family.

Review

Overall have been happy with this company, my dog is now 12 and has just recovered from a series of problems. The only concern I have is that the cost has increased since signing up... but also understand that vet care has also increased.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
