I called because the fax number to submit a claim was busy after several tries. The contact person was very nice and gave me another fax number but that was also busy. I have yet to be able to submit my claim.

Best Pet Insurance Hands Down!
Insuring our two dogs as puppies with Trupanion was the best decision we ever made for them. In particular for our dog Maya. The poor thing had a vast amount of health aliments including skin, thyroid, eye and liver to name a few. Trupanion allowed us to give Maya the care she deserved and needed. This in turn allowed us to have Maya in our lives for her short 7 years. Our claims were always handled in a reasonable amount of time and if there ever was a discrepancy on whether or not they would cover a claim, a quick email or phone call from our vets office cleared the matter up. My vet once showed me all the claims made for Maya and it literally scared me (well over $50,000), without pet insurance we would not have been able to do all we could for Maya. I truly thank them for all they have done for us and for Maya. Sadly we recently had to say a final goodbye to Maya, but our other dog remains covered by Trupanion and if we ever got another dog, they would too. I would highly recommend them.

Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
