Trupanion is the insurance you want for your furry family members

I have been dealing with Trupanion for close to 20 years. This is my third dog that I have insured and I can say I would not have a pet without insurance. I have had many large claims and have had no problems from Trupanion. They are incredibly efficient and quick in dealing with my claims. I can’t stress how great they have been and would highly recommend them.

They saved my family.

They saved my family. I've been paying about $196/mo. for my Mastiff and German Shepherd. My mastiff ended up with glaucoma and had a series of incidents over the course of a year that led up to me having to have her eyes replaced with marbles. I couldn't have been happier that I had signed up with Trupanion. They took care of the vast majority of my vet and surgery bills. I think I ended up paying about $700 out of $8000. I never had any delays, issues, and was able to walk away from the vet without a big bill every time. Today, Zane is happy, healthy and playful. I likely would have made the choice to put her down as I was not in the financial position to be paying up to $2500 at a time. It would not have been a happy time for my children.

Trupanion has been a life saver!

Trupanion has been an excellent company to deal with! We have a German Shepard that needed spinal decompression surgery and at the same time a cat that decided to swallow a random foamy piece (won’t eat his canned food but a foamy piece looked yummy!) so that required surgery..... trupanion was a life saver! Instead of worrying about the bill we were able to focus on our pets recoveries. They covered everything we expected them to (read the fine print so you know what’s covered and what’s not so there’s no surprises) and they paid immediately through our vet so we only had to pay our deductible and our share of the costs. They’ve paid out almost 10k for us! Would highly recommend to anyone! 👍😀🐾

I have been a client for 10yrs

I have been a client for 10yrs. When my miniature dachshund recently required emergency back surgery it was a relief not to have to worry how I would pay the vet charges. The kindness and compassion from the customer service rep was wonderful. I recieved my reimbursement cheque before the credit card bill arrived. Thank you Trupanion!

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
