NOT WHAT I EXPECTED AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY......!$#

I have had insurance for my border collie, Arthur for 9 years. He is my first dog and when I adopted him, I felt that getting pet insurance was the smart thing to do. I have been paying premiums for the 9 years and recently, he has had some health issues that necessitated veterinary care that was quite costly. I have submitted my claims and they are expensive, but I have quickly found out that a " deductible" means that every time you submit, you have a deductible. This is NOT what I expected. I too have insurance for my drugs and dental and once I submit per year, I have a deductible that applies to only the calendar year. This is NOT what Trupanion does. I have found out the hard way, and this latest claims is a bust. My poor dog had nausea and vomiting, which turned out to be gastritis, and also a skin rash that turned out to be demodetic dermatitis. All claims NEVER met the threshold for payment. What this means of course is that even though I pay over 80$ per month for coverage. their sneaky " deductibles " eat up all my claims and I have only been able to get back 60+$ in all the claims I have submitted. This is upsetting for me as a pet owner. I NEVER expected that I would have to be paying a deductible over and over each time a claim was submitted. This was NEVER mentioned to me when I took out coverage. My coverage has been useless and I feel like I have gotten nothing for all the money I have been paying. I will not be getting insurance with this company again for any subsequent pets that I may own. I would be better served putting money into a saving account. I am a great saver so it will be the way to go. I know that there are some owners who think this company is just great, but not this one.

It's an easy claims experience

It s an easy claims experience from beginning to end. Our vet s office submitted the claim, a notice arrived by email the claim was received and approved, refund appeared in our bank account a few days later.

Never had an issue.

Never had an issue. Claims were paid in as little as 3 days. Best part about trupanion trupanion is there are no limits for the lifetime of the pet.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
