Well Trupanion was recommended to me upon the addition of a new puppy three years ago. I never carried pet insurance before and for three years we have not had to use the insurance . Two years ago our Brussels Griffon, Gracie was diagnosed with a patella issue and it would require expensive surgery down the line. We have been saving our money for the day it comes, but it seems most of the surgery and after care is covered by Trupanion's pet insurance so we won't have to go into debt over it! I would say upon speaking to the woman on the line at Trupanion (Pamela) that I was immediately at east. She assured me she would help me be prepared upon the visit with the dog surgeon end of the month and have all my questions handled with Trupanion prior to the surgery. We also had some snafu's with the web site and getting my portal code to work. Pamela was patient and very calm when explaining they had many different ways they reach out to clients and that she would get me my paperwork by hook or by crook. SO Pamela handled getting me my pre-approval and my claims forms emailed to me instead of my own downloading since I could not access the web site. Anyway my experience so far with Trupanion is assuring and I feel confident that my financial needs will be met for Gracie's up coming surgery and that our financial percentage will be manageable and its a thrilling experience to feel comforted financially and emotionally with your pet's health.

Very easy to make the claim as either the clinic or I just fax it in. Payment is within a week. No hassle.

Trupanion has friendly staff. I also like knowing my pets are insured. It is worth the price for peace of mind.

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
