Direct billing for rural vets in Canada
Our vet in small town Alberta has recently been able to start direct billing to Trupanion. This had made things so much easier for us! With Toby's ongoing medical issues, we are so thankful we no longer have to pay up front, then submit for reimbursement.

A friend when you’re in need!
Dear Trupanion
This letter that you are receiving has been in the works for a very long time, but for obvious reasons we have not been able to complete it.
We lost our beautiful Yorkshire terrier Logan to lymphoma cancer on September 12th, 2018.
We started with Trupanion from the beginning of purchasing Logan. This would have been back on June 1st, 2006. Throughout Logan’s life and as a life long member of Trupanion, he has needed your financial support several times. We are happy that you were with us every step of the way!
From covering 90% of the costs on his multiple prescriptions to cure his persistent kennel cough. To the two major hernia surgeries Logan had to have when he was 8 years old. And later his special diet food required, as well as removal of a growth on his lip. Just to mention a few of his health issues. There have been many occasions that you were there for Logan and us, and we will never forget your support. The monthly cost that we paid for this service was well worth every dollar. The cost of his hernia surgeries alone were very expensive and cost in the many thousands of dollars.
What was most touching to our family, at the most difficult time in our lives was your very thoughtful and supportive handwritten sympathy card from you Trupanion, and your beautiful and caring staff. It remains on our refrigerator at all times. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We wish you all a very happy , healthy and prosperous new year 2020 and beyond. 🙏
There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t miss or think at least a hundred times of our dear dear beautiful Logan. I am still crying as I write this letter to you, trying to send it to you and put some closure to all of this. I hope one day I will be able to have another Yorkshire terrier. He was the heart of our home🏡.
Logan loved to play in the river near our home. He really loved water play. And adored playing with the water coming out of the the hose in the backyard
Logan was very photogenic and enjoyed posing for his photos.

The best decision we have made for our furry family member was signing up with Trupanion!
When our 4yr old mixed breed dog started limping we certainly could not have imagined he would require major surgery immediately. Had it not been for Trupanion we would have had an incredibly difficult time managing his medical procedures. Trupanion immediately pre authorized all required treatment and made a incredibly difficult situation very manageable. The best decision we have made for our furry family member is signing up with Trupanion, and we absolutely recommend them to anyone considering pet insurance they are far and above the best!

Monthly Cost
Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
