Absolutely the BEST !!!!
I have been with Trupanion for over five years, and they came highly recommend it to me at the time.
Never thought I would need them, but figured it was peace of mind. I had checked around with other insurance companies, but this one stood out with me. I really like the fact that they are in BC, and that when they had the fires in Fort McMurray, I know they looked after mini monthly premiums for six months until people get back into their homes and on their feet.
That amazes me
Then our dog developed allergies…. Now he is on Apoquel, which isn’t cheap…. But is helping him.
He is also on a AVenti omega 3 oil.
Trupanion pays 90% of the cost of these, less the tax….. and of course, after my $500 deductible
Then, in April our dog began to limp….
Our vet put them on rest, meloxicam…. And said to give it six months.
He didn’t get any better, we were referred to a really good surgeon; who advised us that Jake needed a TPLO surgery, which is very very expensive…. But great recovery.
The surgeons office sent a quote off to Trupanion; and they replied within minutes to them
Jake had his surgery last Wednesday; again Trupanion paid 90% of the surgery less the tax…… no issues whatsoever
I believe if anybody writes a bad review, it may be because of a pre-existing condition.
I normally pay for his medication upfront, when I get home, I take a picture of my receipt, log onto my account with Trupanion and submit my claim along with a picture of my receipt
Some days I have had my money deposited in my bank account within two days!!!!
I cannot say anything bad about our experience with Trupanion.
My husband and I are totally happy with this company.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that since I’ve had this insurance our rates went up $.11 a month…. And it was only a few months ago that I was notified that it would be going up $9 more a month.
In this day and age, every single thing has gone up…. So we were not surprised at an increase.
Again had the same payment amount except for the little increase years ago, up until now
There is no way if I had put my payment in the bank every month, I would never have had enough money saved for all that Trupanion has paid out. AND… always friendly and courteous, and easy to get a hold of any time of the day.

Speak with someone 24 hours a day! Wish other companies had this service. …
My dogs have been covered by Trupanion for a few years, and I haven’t had a claim yet. But I called a couple of days ago with a couple of questions. I called at 9pm PST and I was so pleased to be able to speak with someone from Trupanion. The agent was kind and helpful, which is amazing! I’m so glad I have this insurance, it really gives me peace of mind.

Insurance for my Furboy Bruno
Derek listened to my concerns and understood the situation clearly.. directed me to the right department to get the situation moving in the right direction.
I was calling from the emergency department dealing with an ongoing issue that had escalated with our pet Little Mister... I'm sure I was blubbling a bit on and on about the situation and he really was both professional but with enough compassion to make you feel like things would get set straight while he was also able to show sensitivity as a human being with an understanding of how much pet parents love their animals.

Monthly Cost
Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
