I have been with Trupanion for 4 years…
I have been with Trupanion for 4 years and they have been nothing but useless. They determine everything to be a pre-existing condition. My vet even said my dogs neck pain has nothing to do with his leg pain but somehow Trupanion makes up its own diagnosis which doesn’t even make sense and isn’t even a confirmed diagnosis by the vet! They say the symptoms are related to possible intervertebral disc disease when my dog has never even been diagnosed! So if my dog was jumping for his ball and fell on his side and has a sore leg, he all of a sudden is diagnosed with a disease as per Trupanion and not my vet!??? This is their own guess! I’m not one to write reviews but I am shocked with how this company is run. Save yourself and open up a saving account and put money away.

Stress Free
Excellent service, and no added stress or worries during an already stressful time with our beautiful dog. Thank you for being there for us; we liked that the animal hospital was able to put in the paperwork immediately, which really lightened the load we were feeling. We would have had to put our dog down if it wasn't for Trupanion. We didn't have to fear about being overcharged. Trupanion stayed true to their values. We are so appreciative!!! Sophie is healing well despite that fact that it has been difficult to keep our active, young girl "quiet" so that she can to heal quickly. I think she knows that she was in danger of losing her life, because she is even more affectionate than before her accident.

What exactly does Trupanion cover?
I bought my senior dog pet insurance through Trupanion knowing that his arthritis and allergies wouldn't be covered, because I didn't want to make major end-of-life decisions based on my budget. Two years and $1,500 of insurance later, and he has a suspected spinal stroke or disc rupture. A MRI costs almost $5k. This is the exact scenario I bought the insurance for...and Trupanion refuses to cover it based on the preexisting condition of arthritis. Now, I'm not a doctor but I do know that arthritis and a spinal injury are NOT the same thing. Over 2 years, they've covered some vet visits, but I've never actually made it past any of the deductibles. Their agents are friendly and they process claims sort of quickly, but that's not very helpful when they don't actually cover anything.

Trupanion is the only insurance you don’t say no to.
My vet at Vellore Woods recommended we get Trupanion insurance. My dog is not even a year old and Trupanion has already helped us so much. You will not regret getting this insurance.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
