Our dog has had surgery and chemo…
Our dog has had surgery and chemo therapy recently. Trupanion has been there all the way. Without their help, we might have had to make a very sad and difficult decision about our dog. As it turns out, he's having no side effects, enjoying his life (minus the heat!), smiling and playful. So very grateful we have Trupanion on our side.

Thank you Trupanion
I am so glad that I have Trupanion for my pet insurance. Nearly 9 years ago, I spent time researching what kind of dog to get and part of that decision was a typically healthy breed and a good breeder.. I chose my Silky Terrier, Timmy who I love and adore. I had decided prior to getting Timmy to get pet insurance since my previous dog had a lot of health issues and it was financially and emotionally challenging. After some research I got Trupanion. I’m glad I made this choice. Last May I discovered that Timmy had Grade III mast cell tumor cancer. Fast forward to 3 surgeries, IV chemo, oral chemo with frequent bloodwork and vet visits in the last 14 months. Timmy has been a champion thru all of this and living a great quality of life. I know that eventually the cancer will win, but Trupanion has allowed me to have this time with Timmy and given me the opportunity to make each day he has left, a good day. Without Trupanion, I would not have been financially able to provide Timmy with the treatment that he has needed. Thank you Trupanion! I am very happy with your service. I have not had to make a call to figure things out or pay money up front. Instead I am able to concentrate on what my treasured pup needs and not worry about the details! I would recommend Trupanion to anyone.

Monthly Cost
Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
