Very disappointed in Trupanion and the decision to not cover a low cost treatment that in the ned saved Trupanion and myself considerable cost.
Very disappointed in Trupanion and the decision to not cover a low cost treatment that in the ned saved Trupanion and myself considerable cost. The next step in the insurance coverable diagnostic plan was $!400 CT/MRI's and the animal chiropractor sorted the issue in 5 seconds and three short treatments.

Trupanion has been a lifesaver! Truly...
Trupanion has been exceptional from day one. Unfortunately, my dog has had a very long list of issues in his short life, only 3.5 years old but Trupanion has truly lived up to all of their promises. I don't say any of this lightly. I've always been a skeptic of insurance companies but based on my experience with Trupanion I've changed my perspective.
Honestly, I can't recommend them enough. I proudly tell people where to buy their pet insurance, without hesitation. It may seem like hyperbole but I assure you that I'm grateful for this organization because without them I doubt I would have been able to give my dog the care he has needed. Hospital visits and surgeries and MRI's are not cheap. I'd never adopt a pet without getting insurance and if need an honest company to commit to, well, Trupanion is the best company around for that. I know because I did the research.
Oh, and one point of recommendation, get the extended insurance which includes physical therapy and any post operative therapies. I remember this being a separate addition to the insurance. Double check with an agent. Just call their support line and talk to them to see how responsive they are. Don't take my word for it. And submitting a claim takes about 20 seconds. What more can I say other than "Thank-you!" I mean that sincerely.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
