Allergy coverage and peace of mind

So far trupanion has been a game changer for pet ownership. Our previous dog had a host of medical issues starting as simply accident prone and curious in his early years, to cancer in a bad location that grew fast and required a board certified surgeon to remove 70% of his rear quad muscle, then he later developed Cushings disease as a senior and neurological issues late in life which we believe now were seizures. My experience with my old best furry friend taught me how important pet insurance is. I knew before getting another dog that I would never forgo insurance again, while our rescue by no means is unhealthy I was completely unaware that he had allergies and also that they would get more severe over time leading to breakthrough skin, eye and ear infections as a regular inconvenience and discomfort for him. Trupanion has allowed us to give him the care that he deserves with the peace of mind that if we run into any larger issues like we did with our last dog we will be able to get the best treatment plan in place without having to make any tough choices that my heart couldn’t handle. Yes, there is always the chance that you won’t run into any major problems however, I almost wasn’t able to give my last dog what he needed and thankfully I managed to find a way. I will never risk having to make a tough choice again. Thanks to Trupanion we are now starting treatment for desensitization to Frankie’s allergies, his worst being something he can’t avoid, the naturally occurring yeast that grown on dogs skin. We’re hopeful for some relief for our sweet boy and we’re grateful for our insurance policy.

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
