Hassle free

We just had a major surgery done on our dog. The vet was relieved to know it was Trupanion, I think, because they knew it would be hassle free. Trupanion preauthorized the surgery within hours of request, and paid 90% of the vet bill while I was paying the 10%. Vet was paid in full before I left the clinic. The negative of Trupanion is that apparently premiums depend on your postal code, which is biased. Having said that, I believe the premiums were reasonable in the early years, but escalate a lot past 5 years old. The escalation may cause people to cancel just when they need it most, as the pet ages, and the cost is sunk. That's insurance for you.

Trupanion is the Best

Trupanion is the Best. My puppy has been diagnosed with Collapse Trachea. They approve my claims in less then 24 hours. Money in my bank 48 hours later. Very grateful for this fabulous company! Thank you Cindy

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
