Forever Thankful

We had a horrible thing happened to our 3 year old dog Lola..very close to Christmas this year 2021..our dog ingested something and had to have major surgery. We always had insurance with Trupanion and we were ever so thankful we did! The fast timing of the approval for the pre-determination of surgery was super fast and after surgery was completed once the claim was submitted it was no time before we had a response...and a good one at that! Honestly if it took 10 to 20 minutes that's all it took. I also took advantage of the online help and had great service from them as well! I'd recommend this insurance to every person who has a animal! You never know when you'll need them! Thank you so much Trupanion. We will forever be thankful to you ❤

Examination fees not being covered is big downfall for Trupanion

The people I spoke with were great - from the person I signed up with to the person who helped me put in my 1st (and last) claim. The ease of submitting the claim was great. However, they do not cover the exam fee. That was a complete surprise. I suppose I should've read the print better - but also, no one pointed it out and this is my first experience with a pet and pet insurance. I don't understand how the exam part of the whole procedure can be left out of the coverage? There can be no diagnosis/treatment/recovery without first being examined. For example: My first claim was over $1300 - which included exam fees, x-rays, and finally antibiotics. After they remove taxes (again, I don't understand how they can just not cover that, I paid it), the vet fee, and the deductible, they ended up reimbursing only 40% of the total cost. I find the lack of coverage of the exam fees a dishonesty and misrepresentation on their part. They claim to cover "90% of actual veterinary costs" without actually covering the cost of the veterinarian? I know the small print is there, but I truly believe the larger print affirmations are a complete misrepresentation. The exam is the basis of the whole treatment. Due to this, I will be canceling my policy as soon as I find a new insurer.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
