Frustration and headaches
I was very frustrated trying to get the documents that they wanted me to get. I would send information and I would get an email the next day telling me something was wrong with it. This was a fairly serious condition and the invoices were from over a month. I did not always understand what they were asking of me. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I contacted them trying to get everything done. I was extremely impressed with Joyel when we chatted online. She truly wanted to help me. I was so frustrated.
We had a fairly serious problem that presented itself during a routine spay. Obviously, the routine spay was not covered under my policy and I knew it. But there was more surgery afterwards. I still don't totally understand why if they have to consult a specialist, it's not covered. Her case was fairly unique. This has been my payout since I first started using Trupanion with my first of three dogs in 2018. I am not sure that I got the date of the spay correct, but I did not want to go back through my notes and lose what I had written. We truly had at least 3 weeks worth of testing that followed that.
Eventually they did cover everything except the specialist consult. Otherwise I would have given them a two. And the two comes from just the frustration of trying to get what they wanted in to them for the claim.
