Trupanion Pays!

I've had Trupanion for my dog and best friend Harper since she was a tiny puppy, and thank goodness! Harper is now 6 years old and she has been extremely unwell for the last few months with medical bills exceeding $15,000. Trupanion has been compassionate and helpful and has quickly paid my claims, making it possible for me to get her the help she needs. Despite the high cost of her medicine and treatment Trupanion has not quibbled over one thing. It has been extremely exhausting to care for her though her illness, but knowing that I do not have to worry about her bills has been and is a huge help. Just this morning I saw a sparkle in her eyes that makes it all worth it.

Pleasant Surprise on your coverage

Ms. Feeney is doing very well, but of course we're following Dr. Dennis' recommendations to the letter. Our recent blistering weather had us not let her out too long but NOW our weird drought has broken, and she doesn't WANT to go out - typical Dachshund. Your company's payment toward her fairly large expenses helped a lot to be able to give her what Dr. Dennis had recommended!

Awesome customer service!

I've had my policy for over a year and just this month I have had to use it twice for my cat. First to remove tumors and a second time as a follow-up to ensure the cancer had not spread past the tumor and into my cat's hip bone. My bills were slightly over 1K and trupanion handled my claim and I had a direct deposit into my checking acct. within 2 days! Really nice to know I can depend on the promise Trupanion sells when the policy is purchased. They are a class act and frankly I wish my own health insurance provided the excellent overall customer experience that I have had with Trupanion! It's so comforting to know that should anything come back I can worry about getting my cat the very best vet care and Trupanion will take 90% of the financial hardship off of my shoulders.

emergency clinic and surgery

My dog had to have surgery to remove a tube sock that she ate whole. It couldn't pass and blocked the area that the stomach feeds into the intestines. The bills to my vet were addressed right away. Just yesterday I received compensation for surgergy. However, during this event we had to take her to an emergency center on a Sunday when my vet was closed. The bill for this has yet to be addressed. I sent an email to the person who handled my claim explaining the timeline and who saw my dog and the fact that the emergency center bill has yet to be addressed. The Trupanion person did not reply to my email. I recently sent a second copy of the bill and claim form to Trupanion for the emergency visit. I would have rated Turpanion as a 10 if not for this problem.

First claim

We have had the Trupanion insurance for 3 years now and had to submit our very first claim. It was so easy and hassle free. Our Vet faxed over the necessary claim form and within 48 hours we had received email notification that the claim was received and being reviewed. A few days after that we received notification that the claim was approved and what the reimbursement would be. We then received the reimbursement check about a week later. I would recommend this insurance to everyone.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
