Emergency bowel obstructions surgery

My dog got into the garbage and required an emergency bowel obstruction surgery. The costs of this surgery were around the $5000 mark and without my insurance we would not have been ableTo afford it. The process of creating and submitting a claim was very easy and I received my money within a week of the surgery. Mojo is doing Great and recovering well. We are 3 weeks post surgery. The process was way easier than I anticipated. Glad I chose trupanian.

Pricy but worth it

My golden started early with problems. At 8 months he decided to eat two socks. 3k in medical bills 90% covered minus deductible. At about 1.5 years he began to have hot spots which we could not seem to resolve. He now gets medicated baths weekly, Benadryl daily , omega 3 supplement and allergy shots. All is covered no questions hassle free. I just scan and email my claim and normally have a check within 3 weeks. Best insurance company I have dealt with. I would not hesitate going with this company again.

Easy Filing and Refund

Our standard poodle had two health issues within a three week period, some kind of virus then an abscess behind her eye that required emergency surgery. We filed the first event (our first filing) and had to go through them getting medical records and got the refund within a couple of weeks. The second event we had the refund within a week!

Good for Medication Coverage.

I have a 9 year old Cocker Spaniel who was diagnosed with Glaucoma 3 years ago in her right eye and had to have it removed and Trupanion pay 90% of the $3000 surgery and I received the money within 2 weeks. They have covered her eye drops for the left eye since then at 90% but do not cover the vet actually checking my dog's eye and pressure check. They also have no preventative care coverage including teeth cleaning which I heard other pet insurances can have. The monthly premium also seems to jump quite a lot when they are increasing it. I have a $250 deductible on my policy and from 2012 to now my monthly premium has increased from $38.52 to $64.61 and they have been the jump the first time was by $16 and the second increase was by $9. I called them and they said it had nothing to do with my dog having a chronic condition which now needed payment for (before 2102 I hardly ever needed to use the policy). I will have to stay with them now as my dog has a pre-existing condition that another pet insurance would not cover.

Price Increases

The service I get from Trupanion overall is great. My vet puts my claims in electronically and I get notified of the coverage within the same day. This is great as have a recurring prescription for my Dane named Aries. I only have to pay the difference now instead of the whole bill and having to wait to be reimbursed. My only worry is as the premium has increased twice on me, I am now worried as I approach $100.00 a month I may soon be getting priced out of what I can afford. Then my Pet will suffer if I have to cancel the premium.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
