Spot denied my claim and lied about it

Spot is a a horrible health insurance company. Writing I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Spot Pet Insurance. I submitted a legitimate $389 illness claim for my 5-month-old puppy (Claim #8022893), and instead of processing it fairly, the claim was denied without any clear or accurate explanation. What is especially frustrating is that Spot claimed they requested medical records and did not receive them. That is completely inaccurate. I personally emailed the requested medical records directly to them, yet they still acted as though the documentation was never provided. As a paying customer, I expected honesty, transparency, and fair communication during the claims process. Instead, I feel like I was given misleading information and forced to fight for a claim that should have been handled properly from the beginning. Pet insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind during stressful situations with your pet, not add more frustration. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Spot Pet Insurance

This is by far the worst pet insurance…

This is by far the worst pet insurance company out there. Deserves zero stars. My insurance started for a senior dog in 2023. In 2024 my dog had a growth removed from her gums that was potentially cancerous. Fast forward to 2026, and she has three growths removed. The biggest was on the elbow area. I submit my claim to Spot and they declined it for preexisting condition, claiming this was all related to a random growth that she had in 2023 near her mouth and not in the same location as the one in 2024. A few days later, my dog is diagnosed with cutaneous lymphoma at the oncologist. I submit a claim for this and now this claim is also denied for a supposed preexisting condition. How they came to the conclusion that any of these are preexisting conditions is anyone’s guess. So if you’re thinking about getting insurance from Spot, I suggest you go anywhere else as they would literally relate any claim to a preexisting condition without any logic whatsoever just so they don’t have to pay out. What a scam.

Being told that arthritis is a pre-existing condition for cancer?

Being told that biopsies were covered and then to get denied stating that they are not covered and cited a "pre-existing condition of arthritis" was absurd when the biopsies were testing for bone cancer, which as a medical professional, I know those are completely different diseases and not caused by one or the other. Spot can do better for spilling out this incorrect information. It was disappointing and absolutely wrong. Not sure what kind of medical/vetinary background your company has. Paid over $2k in monthly premiums this past year only to get every claimed denied. Last month, Spot decided to allow one vet visit but I haven't met my deductible yet. Also funny coincidence that after that claim was approved that my monthly premiums went up over $50/month with no notice or explanation as to why. Seriously think twice about Spot.
