Sonnet | Pet Insurance Review

I moved my auto insurance after 30+ years with another company. After 3 months with sonnet my insurance was cancelled and I was not allowed to rectify the situation. My cc was stolen and I made an honest mistake updating my payment terms.

My boyfriend and I have been insured with Sonnet for the past three years. We were in the process of transferring the car from his name into mine, and just wanted to switch the person the insurance was under - literally every detail was exactly the same as before. And yet, our quoted rate was $40 more PER MONTH than when we signed up in his name two months ago. I was always on the insurance, and we both have identical group discounts, driver history, we are even the same age and both have driver training. Additionally, we were dinged almost two full months insurance for cancelling, even though our intention was to immediately reinsure the car under the same policy. I thought that a customer service representative might be able to sort this out as we have been customers for some time and had every intention of continuing to be, but everyone we spoke to just told us that whatever the quoted rate is is the best they can offer. I tried shopping around and it seems that I can definitely get the old rate with another provider, but every single insurance broker I spoke to directly lied to me, didn't know what they were talking about, or tried to add on extra coverage when I explicitly said I wanted the most basic. I am now selling the car rather than insuring with Sonnet or anyone else because the process was so painful, and I hadn't budgeted for a totally arbitrary 30% increase in the cost to insure my car. Battling OCtranspo is better than this crap, and that's saying something. Edit in response to the comment below: As I stated, our driver histories are identical (no accidents, no tickets, exact same number of years driving history etc.) and we live at the same address. I've already spoken to several agents through the chatbot and on the phone.

So far so good! I'm liking the steady monthly payments and it was pretty easy to set up! Nothing but positivity so far.
