I’ve had a generally positive experience with Pumpkin Pet Insurance. The coverage options are quite comprehensive, especially for illnesses and preventive care, which gave me peace of mind as a pet owner. The claims process has been fairly straightforward, and reimbursements usually arrive within a reasonable timeframe. What I really appreciate is the transparency in their policies—there aren’t too many hidden surprises, and it’s easy to understand what’s covered and what’s not. Their customer support has also been helpful whenever I had questions. That said, premiums can be a bit on the higher side compared to some competitors, and it would be great if they offered more flexibility in pricing or customization. Overall, I’d recommend Pumpkin Pet Insurance to pet owners looking for reliable coverage and good service, with just a bit of room for improvement on affordability.

Prompt service on all claims

Prompt service on all claims. This is a very professional and customer oriented company. Our beagle suffers from serious and chronic allergies that have made her and us miserable and have been a real challenge to control. The financial burden is significantly less thanks to Pumpkin. They never try to evade their responsibility and they honor all legitimate claims. I highly recommend this company.

I've very happy with my Pumpkin Pet Health Care plan. Whenever I've called to ask questions, their representatives have been very helpful. My claims have been paid quickly. I recommend Pumpkin to all my friends with pets.

Monthly Cost

Plans start as low as $30 per month. Prices vary based on plan type, pet breed, age, and location.

Coverage

Every pet is covered by a 90% reimbursement rate to make it easier to say “yes” to the best possible care.

Payout Limits

Annual limits of $10,000, $20,000 or unlimited for dogs and $7,000, $15,000 or unlimited for cats.

Deductible

3 options: $100, $250, $500 and $1000

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

Insurance coverage begins 14 days after your policy begins for all conditions, including knee/ligament issues where some other policies make you wait 6 months for coverage. No waiting periods for preventive care (in fact, depending on when you received the care, you may be eligible for a retroactive refund).

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. However, unlike some other pet insurances, Pumpkin’s plan covers some curable pre-existing conditions if symptom-free for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions. For full terms, visit pumpkin.care/insurancepolicy.
