Overall Great

We are overall very pleased. The customer service agents are extremely friendly and helpful. Most claims are taken care of promptly. However we did have an issue that took longer than necessary to get approved. It did get resolved and we are thankful for that. We would and do recommend Pumpkin to our friends and to others.

I wish I had Pumpkin for my last dog…

Payment was so quick after submitting everything online. I thought insurance for my dog was so much more expensive but when a tech at my vet’s office told me how affordable Pumpkin was, I signed up my new dog right away. I only wish I had it for my last two dogs since both had very high medical bills at the end of their lives.

Monthly Cost

Plans start as low as $30 per month. Prices vary based on plan type, pet breed, age, and location.

Coverage

Every pet is covered by a 90% reimbursement rate to make it easier to say “yes” to the best possible care.

Payout Limits

Annual limits of $10,000, $20,000 or unlimited for dogs and $7,000, $15,000 or unlimited for cats.

Deductible

3 options: $100, $250, $500 and $1000

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

Insurance coverage begins 14 days after your policy begins for all conditions, including knee/ligament issues where some other policies make you wait 6 months for coverage. No waiting periods for preventive care (in fact, depending on when you received the care, you may be eligible for a retroactive refund).

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. However, unlike some other pet insurances, Pumpkin’s plan covers some curable pre-existing conditions if symptom-free for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions. For full terms, visit pumpkin.care/insurancepolicy.
