Pets Best | Pet Insurance Review

They paid $5000 of a $7000 bill. That makes the cost manageable for me.

Horrible coverage. I was not expecting to pay my monthly premium on a 100% healthy dog for 3+ years and when I needed the service, it completely let me down. My pup was stung by something at a park and had went into shock. I took her to the nearest emergency vet hospital and got care for her. Pet's Best delayed my claim multiple times claiming "we need to get more info from the vet's office" multiple times. Seemed like they were just trying to delay any sort of payment. After over a month of waiting they came back and paid me a pathetic $371 on a vet bill over a $1550! My dog is 100% healthy and I have been paying my premium since she was a puppy with Pet's Best. I will be letting anyone I know NOT to go with this SCAM of a company. Very disappointing and there was never a clear reason on why they paid back so little. Also there was no way to dispute it! They give you a number to call and that just leads you to voice prompts and a call back. Horrible company.

Been almost a month since submitting a very simple claim. Still have not received it nor do they have an idea why it's taking so long. I called to speak with a live rep 3 times. All 3 times took over 30min. Live representatives also can't tell you anything you don't see yourself on the app. They are otherwise useless and rude. NOTE: You cannot cancel your policy easily. Not through the app. Not through the site. And not through a representative. You have to write an email and hope someone gets back to you. I will be reporting to better business bureau.

We got this insurance to protect our 3 year old lab because the cost was less and seemed like better coverage than what we had. After 5 months of payments at Pet's Best's top level plan, our dog tore her cruciate and couldn't walk. We took her to the local vet and had surgery done to fix her leg. Two months later (8 months total with insurance) we were denied reimbursement on the $8,000 we spent out of pocket because this very specific procedure is not covered until after 6 months. Yes, for 6 months you need to treat your pet like bubble boy (girl) and pray nothing serious happens. Also, as other reviewers have noted, the processing takes so long that we have now paid for 8 months of insurance that refuses to pay for anything because now it is all considered pre-existing. So the initial exam, procedure, and followups totaling around $10,000 are all out of pocket and not 1 cent has been reimbursed. Either make the deductible higher until 6 months or lock people in for extended terms if medical bills are high so the company can get their money back. They lost be as a customer for the life of my pet and I was dedicated to my old insurance for 18 years. I wish I never left because although I would have paid half of what it has cost me so far, at least it's something. Now I have all this debt on a 0% APR credit card so I can try to save some money but I know others may not be as fortunate. So don't bother using this company if your pet is old or has a history of anything. If you have a puppy with no history, you may have a chance but they may say your puppy's condition is pre-exieting from when they were in the womb.

This is the first time I’ve had pet insurance so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I liked the various options for different plans at Pets Best. I recently had to make a claim, and the process was very straightforward and easy to navigate. Very pleased that they paid almost all of the claim.
