Pleased.

I never thought insurance would be easy. But I'm very pleased with Nationwide. My first claim got rejected because on the insurance form I used the name Cookie, while the vet used the cat's shelter name from the shelter paperwork, which was different. I had the vet change the name, and resubmitted to Nationwide. No complications whatsoever. Also, the website is easy to maneuver. All good stuff to say about Nationwide.

everything perfect!

love you guys! Everything was easy. My only very minor quibble is that it takes 3 weeks for claims to come back. If this was 1 week or less, my rating would be a 10. I really appreciate the online submission and payments too.

Urinary tract infection is not a pre-existing condition

We adopted our dog in January. In early February she had a urinary tract infection (UTI) which was proven to have cleared up based on a follow-up urine test. Our pet insurance policy began March 1, and in March she suffered a second, unrelated UTI. Her second UTI was not covered by our pet insurance policy as it was deemed a "pre-existing condition," which is not the case since the first UTI had cleared up and this was a separate incident.

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
