Works great (once you know what you're doing)

If you've never had to fill out claims for pet insurance before, there's a small learning curve to make sure that you establish what the insurer needs in order to properly process your claim. Once you know that, it's a relatively easy, straightforward process. It's also great to see where the claim is in terms of processing. So far, no unpleasant surprises. I'm very pleased.

Overall, your program is a good one. Just wish that an email like this would take into account the nature of the last claim that was sent, which was for the euthanasia and cremation of our Mandy. I know it's probably just an automated system, but it actually brought up some very sad feelings.

Piece of mind with Nationwide on your side (I think it is a great slogan. You should trademark it!)

I choose to select a top of the line coverage for Winston since it is a new puppy and requires a lot of care and attention in his first year. Including neutering, shots, and all maintenance medications (Fleas/ticks, heartworm, etc. ). All is at 90% coverage. has a long experience with VIP pet insurance, now Nationwide, so had no doubt to put a new puppy with trusted company.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
