Policy limits too low

I love Nationwide pet insurance. Your customer service is the best. The only thing I don't like about Nationwide is I truly believe that the policy limits on most procedures and medical issues is set way to low. One of my dogs had a ACL repair last year and it cost me alot of out of pocket money. She still has not had the follow-up Xray because it will be out of pocket and I can't afford it. My other dog suffers from allergies and due to the cost of prescriptions he can not have one medicine that could help him.

Very appreciative!

We were in the hole about $2100 after an overnight vet ER stay. We were initially DENIED our claim because of a long-ago pre-existing condition. We were gutted, so I called the customer service line. The representative talked me through it, and revealed to me that we'd be able to dispute the pre-existing condition and then re-enter the claim. It all worked -- very easily, I might add -- and we got a large percentage of our initial claim back. Insurance is a tricky business all around. I obviously understand that it's in a company's best BUSINESS interest to deny claims, or reduce the amount awarded. But my interaction with Nationwide made me feel the opposite. After such a stressful experience with out dog, I got the feeling that the customer care reps were on OUR side. I was so happy things turned out as well as they did. I'd be happy to recommend Nationwide to anybody looking for an insurer.

Not happy with service

I have consistently had one issue or another with your company since I joined.. I pay a premium every month and I was disappointed the insurance did not cover the entire fee for my dogs surgery.. I was out of pocket $2400 when I don’t feel I should have been.

This is one of the best decisions I have made in covering my pet with NationWide

This is one of the best decisions I have made in covering my pet with NationWide. The claims are easy to submit and they are very thoughtful. While owning a pet I would not be without!

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
Since 1982, Nationwide has helped pet owners protect what matters most.
