Long time, 8 pet policy customer and still i have to fight to ensure coverage isnt turned down for pre-existing conditions that do not exist. Maybe get claims adjusters who aren't con artist purposefully trying to turn down coverage with every excuse they have. If I hadn't used some of my policies id be switching pet insurance. EDIT TO ADD: For a pet insurance company that sponsors almost all major shelters and rescues in the US, I am so disappointed. My puppy came from a high kill shelter in the south. When she was at the shelter (3 months ago) she was given dewormer as ALL dogs and cats that are in shelters mostly do as a preventive measure. When I adopted her in a different state, she tested negative for any parasites or worms. A month later, shes fighting for her life with coccidia, giardia, and hookworms. MetLife decided that just because she was given a preventative dose of dewormer at a shelter 3 months ago with no diagnostic history or exam notation of any other history of having worms or parasites or GI issues for that matter, MetLife said it was a pre-existing condition. My vet even wrote a letter to them explaining the legal requirements that shelters have to administer preventative dose of this medication and how that is not cause to justify as a pre-existingcondition. And yet they still continue to deny her claims and life-saving care. I will NEVER use MetLife again.
