MetLife claimed symptoms from years before = pre-existing conditions
My dog needed back surgery. I called to ask if this would be covered. They told me to go through with the surgery and submit all the paperwork. MetLife made an incredible leap to make my dogs surgery a pre-existing condition so they didn't have to pay it out. This disease was merely listed as something in the differential diagnosis by the Dr, among other things, including sprains or "other". They used the presence of this in the notes to claim it as pre-existing. My existing vet wrote a letter that explicitly said he wasn't diagnosed with this before. MetLife would not share with me how they came to this conclusion or connect me with the people who denied it. They told me to ask for a 2nd review; it would cost me about $85 to have it done by another vet. They denied the claim again but did not share any credentials with me of the vet they use, then billed me $280. They added a full page of description of the disease and the symptoms but provided no proof of a prior diagnosis. Basically, they claimed my dogs symptoms, even though the was never diagnosed, were a pre-existing condition.
